Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your X99D3M Desktop Computer Main Board. Please read this manual thoroughly before proceeding with installation to ensure proper setup and to prevent damage to the components.
Setup and Installation
Before you begin, ensure your workspace is clean, well-lit, and static-free. It is recommended to wear an anti-static wrist strap when handling components.
1. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the motherboard from its packaging. Inspect it for any signs of physical damage. Ensure all accessories are present.

2. CPU Installation (LGA 2011-3)
- Locate the LGA 2011-3 CPU socket on the motherboard.
- Gently push down the load lever and pull it away from the socket to open the CPU retention frame.
- Carefully align the CPU with the socket, matching the gold triangle on the CPU with the triangle on the socket. Ensure the notches on the CPU align with the keys in the socket.
- Lower the CPU straight down into the socket without applying force.
- Close the retention frame and push the load lever back into place until it clicks.

3. CPU Cooler Installation
Install your compatible LGA 2011-3 CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions. Ensure proper thermal paste application for optimal cooling.
4. Memory (RAM) Installation (DDR3)
- Locate the four DDR3 DIMM slots (orange) on the motherboard.
- Open the clips at both ends of the DIMM slot.
- Align the notch on the DDR3 memory module with the key in the DIMM slot.
- Insert the memory module firmly into the slot until the clips snap into place. Ensure both clips are closed.
- For dual-channel operation, refer to the motherboard's silkscreen for recommended slot pairing (e.g., A1/B1 or A2/B2).
5. Motherboard Installation into Chassis
- Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your computer case.
- Align the motherboard with the standoffs in the chassis.
- Secure the motherboard with screws, ensuring it is firmly seated but not overtightened.

6. Connecting Power Supply
- Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector from your power supply to the corresponding header on the motherboard.
- Connect the 8-pin (or 4+4-pin) CPU power connector to the CPU power header near the CPU socket.
7. Connecting Storage Devices and Peripherals
- Connect SATA data cables from your storage drives (HDD/SSD) to the SATA ports on the motherboard.
- Install any expansion cards (e.g., graphics card) into the appropriate PCIe slots and secure them.
- Connect front panel headers (power button, reset button, USB ports, audio jacks) to their respective headers on the motherboard. Refer to your chassis manual for specific pin assignments.
Operating Instructions
1. Initial Boot-Up
After completing all hardware installations, connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power on your system. The system should perform a Power-On Self-Test (POST) and display the BIOS/UEFI screen or boot into your operating system.
2. Accessing BIOS/UEFI
To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility, press the designated key (commonly DEL, F2, or F10) repeatedly during the initial boot-up sequence. The BIOS allows you to configure system settings, boot order, and monitor hardware status.
3. Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, install the necessary drivers for the motherboard's chipset, LAN, audio, and any other integrated components. These drivers are typically provided on a support CD or can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Regularly clean your computer's interior to prevent dust buildup, which can lead to overheating. Use compressed air to remove dust from fans, heatsinks, and motherboard components. Ensure the system is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
2. BIOS/UEFI Updates

- Try booting with minimal components (CPU, one RAM stick, graphics card if no integrated graphics) to isolate the issue.
2. No Display
- Ensure the monitor is connected to the graphics card (or integrated graphics port) and is powered on.
- Reseat the graphics card and RAM modules.
- Test with a different monitor or display cable if possible.
3. System Instability / Crashes
- Check CPU and GPU temperatures to ensure they are within safe operating limits.
- Verify RAM modules are correctly installed and functioning (consider running a memory diagnostic tool).
- Ensure all drivers are up-to-date.
- Check for any loose connections or components.
4. BIOS Reset
If you encounter issues after changing BIOS settings, you can reset the BIOS to default settings. This can usually be done by:
