1. Introduction

The Machenike K500-B61W is a high-performance 60% RGB gaming mechanical keyboard designed for versatility and customization. It features tri-mode wireless connectivity (2.4Ghz, Bluetooth, USB Wired), hot-swappable keyswitches, dynamic RGB backlighting, and durable PBT+ABS keycaps. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your keyboard.

3. Setup

3.1. Wired Connection

  1. Connect the provided Type-C cable to the keyboard's Type-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The keyboard will be automatically recognized and ready for use.

3.2. 2.4Ghz Wireless Connection

  1. Locate the 2.4Ghz USB receiver, usually stored in a compartment on the back of the keyboard.
  2. Plug the 2.4Ghz USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. On the back of the keyboard, slide the switch to the '2.4G' position.
  4. The keyboard should connect automatically.

3.3. Bluetooth Connection

  1. On the back of the keyboard, slide the switch to the 'BT' position.
  2. The keyboard supports up to two Bluetooth devices (BT1, BT2). To pair, press and hold 'Fn' + 'BT1' or 'Fn' + 'BT2' until the corresponding indicator light flashes rapidly.
  3. On your device (PC, tablet, smartphone), go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  4. Select 'K500-B61W' from the list of available devices to pair.
  5. Once paired, the indicator light will stop flashing and remain solid.
  6. To switch between paired Bluetooth devices, simply press 'Fn' + 'BT1' or 'Fn' + 'BT2'.

3.4. Battery Information

The keyboard is equipped with a 1600 mAh battery. Ensure the keyboard is charged when using wireless modes. Connect the USB-C cable to charge the device.

4. Operation

4.1. Dynamic RGB Backlight Control

The K500-B61W features dynamic RGB backlighting with 20 lighting presets and a 16.8 million full-color spectrum. You can customize lighting effects using the keyboard's driver software.

  • Changing Lighting Modes: Use 'Fn' + '\|' to cycle through different lighting effects.
  • Adjusting Brightness: Use 'Fn' + ']' to increase brightness and 'Fn' + '[' to decrease brightness.
  • Adjusting Speed: Use 'Fn' + ';' to increase effect speed and 'Fn' + ':' to decrease effect speed.

4.2. Hot-Swappable Keyswitches

The K500-B61W features a full-key hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to easily change switches without soldering. It is compatible with most 3-pin keyswitches.

  1. Use the provided switch puller to carefully remove the desired keycap.
  2. Once the keycap is removed, use the switch puller to gently grip the switch and pull it straight up.
  3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place.
  4. Replace the keycap.

4.3. Key Functions and Layout

The keyboard features a 60% compact form factor with an ANSI layout and two function layers for extended functionality. It supports 100% Anti-Ghosting and N-key Rollover (NKRO).

  • Windows Lock Mode: Press 'Fn' + 'Win' to enable/disable the Windows key, preventing accidental presses during gaming.
  • Function Layer Access: The 'Fn' key activates the secondary functions printed on the keycaps (e.g., 'Fn' + '1' for F1, 'Fn' + 'P' for Prtsc, 'Fn' + 'L' for PgUp, 'Fn' + '/' for PgDn, 'Fn' + '?' for End, 'Fn' + 'Alt' for Insert, 'Fn' + 'Ctrl' for Delete).

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Keycaps: Use the provided keycap puller to remove keycaps. Clean them with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.
  • Cleaning the Keyboard Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the keyboard body. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but avoid excessive moisture.
  • Switch Care: If switches feel gritty or inconsistent, they can be removed and lubricated (advanced users only) or replaced.
  • Storage: Store the keyboard in a dry, dust-free environment when not in use.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Check the connection mode switch (2.4G, OFF, BT) on the back of the keyboard.
    • For wired mode, ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer.
    • For 2.4Ghz mode, ensure the USB receiver is plugged in and the switch is set to '2.4G'.
    • For Bluetooth mode, ensure the keyboard is paired and the switch is set to 'BT'. Try re-pairing if necessary.
    • Ensure the keyboard battery is charged.
  • Backlight not working or inconsistent:
    • Check backlight brightness settings using 'Fn' + ']' and 'Fn' + '['.
    • Ensure the keyboard's driver software is up to date if using custom lighting profiles.
  • Keys not registering:
    • If a specific key is not working, try removing the keycap and switch (if hot-swappable) and re-seating it.
    • Test with a different switch if available.
