1. Introduction

The Retevis L71 is a versatile 4G PoC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) radio designed for reliable and extensive communication. It supports 4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS, and is optimized for the Zello platform. With its robust features, including a long-lasting battery, SOS alarm, and voice playback, the L71 is ideal for various applications such as logistics, security, outdoor activities, and emergency services.

2. Package Contents

Before you begin, please check the package contents to ensure all items are present and undamaged. The standard package includes:

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Battery Installation and Charging

  1. **Install Battery**: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio. Insert the provided 4000mAh battery, ensuring the contacts align correctly. Close the cover securely.
  2. **Charge Battery**: Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio or place the radio in the charging dock. Connect the other end of the cable to a suitable power adapter. The radio supports fast charging, typically reaching full charge in approximately 5 hours.

3.2 SIM Card Installation

The L71 supports dual SIM dual standby for enhanced communication reliability.

  1. **Access SIM Slots**: Locate the SIM card slots, typically under the battery or a dedicated cover.
  2. **Insert SIM Cards**: Carefully insert your 4G SIM cards into the designated slots. Ensure they are correctly oriented.
  3. **Secure Cover**: Replace any covers and the battery.

3.3 Initial Power On

Press and hold the power button until the device powers on. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, including network configuration and Zello account login.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Operation

  • **Power On/Off**: Press and hold the power button.
  • **Volume Control**: Use the dedicated volume buttons on the side of the device.
  • **Display**: The 1.77-inch color display shows time, Wi-Fi signal strength, GPS status, and other relevant information at a glance.

4.2 Communication Modes

The L71 supports various call modes for flexible communication:

  • **Single Call**: Direct communication with an individual.
  • **Group Call**: Communicate with a predefined group of users.
  • **Friend Call**: Communicate with contacts added as friends.

4.3 Zello Platform Integration

The L71 is fully optimized for the Zello platform, offering a free and secure communication solution. Ensure the Zello app is installed and configured with your account details for seamless Push-to-Talk (PTT) functionality.

4.4 GPS Real-Time Tracking

The integrated GPS functionality allows for real-time tracking, which is crucial for logistics, security, and team coordination. Location data can be accessed via the management platform.

4.5 Voice Playback

The L71 features a one-touch playback function. A short press of side key 1 allows you to replay recent recordings. The device stores up to the last 199 messages, replacing the oldest once the limit is reached.

4.6 SOS Alarm and Man-Down Detection

For safety, the L71 includes a dedicated SOS button and man-down detection. In an emergency, pressing the SOS button or if the device detects a man-down event, an alarm will be triggered, and alerts will be sent to pre-configured contacts or emergency services.

5. Maintenance

  • **Cleaning**: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • **Battery Care**: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the radio regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
  • **Storage**: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • **Water Resistance**: The device is NOT waterproof/water-resistant. Avoid exposure to water or high humidity.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Radio does not power on. Low or dead battery. Charge the battery fully. Ensure battery is correctly installed.
No network signal. No SIM card, incorrect SIM installation, or out of network coverage. Ensure SIM cards are correctly installed. Check network coverage in your area. Try restarting the device.
Cannot connect to Wi-Fi. Incorrect Wi-Fi password or out of range. Verify Wi-Fi password. Move closer to the Wi-Fi router.
Zello not working. Zello app not logged in or network issue. Ensure you are logged into your Zello account and have a stable internet connection (4G or Wi-Fi).
GPS not tracking. GPS signal blocked or feature disabled. Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky. Check device settings to ensure GPS is enabled.
