5. Setup

5.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge the M-VAVE SP100. Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the amplifier's USB-C port and to a 5.0V/2.0A USB power adapter (not included). Charging from depleted to full takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours. The battery indicator LEDs will show charging status and turn solid when fully charged.

5.2 Connecting Your Instrument

  1. Ensure the amplifier is powered off.
  2. Connect your guitar or bass to the INPUT jack using a standard 1/4" mono TS cable.
  3. Power on the amplifier by pressing and holding the Power button.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Press and hold the Power button to turn the unit on or off.
  2. Volume Adjustment: Use the MASTER knob to control the overall output volume.
  3. Tone Shaping: Adjust the GAIN, TONE, MOD, and SPACE knobs to dial in your desired sound. The FULL-RIG knob controls the gain of the selected amplifier simulation.

6.2 Bluetooth Connection

The SP100 supports wireless Bluetooth connection for playing backing tracks or practicing with external audio.

  1. Turn on the SP100.
  2. Press the BT button to enter Bluetooth pairing mode (the BT indicator light will flash).
  3. On your smartphone or other Bluetooth device, search for "M-VAVE SP100" and connect.
  4. Once connected, the BT indicator light will be solid blue. You can now play audio from your device through the SP100.

6.3 USB Computer Recording

The SP100 can function as a computer speaker and external sound card, allowing for direct recording to your computer.

  1. Connect the SP100 to your computer using the supplied USB-C cable.
  2. The computer should automatically recognize the SP100 as an audio input/output device.
  3. Open your preferred Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) or recording software.
  4. Select the SP100 as your audio input and output device within the software settings.
  5. You can now record your instrument directly, create demos, practice music, or host software recording and creation with ease.

6.4 OTG Internal Recording (Smartphone)

For outdoor recording or quick video creation, the SP100 supports OTG internal recording with a smartphone.

  1. Connect your instrument to the SP100's INPUT.
  2. Connect your smartphone to the SP100's USB-C port using a separate OTG adapter (not included) and the USB-C cable.
  3. Connect headphones to your smartphone for monitoring.
  4. Open your smartphone's recording app or video recording app.
  5. The SP100's audio will be routed directly to your phone for high-quality recording.

6.5 Mobile APP Connection

The SP100 can connect wirelessly to a mobile app to import massive AMP and IR files, expanding your tonal possibilities.

  1. Download the official M-VAVE app from your device's app store.
  2. Ensure the SP100 is powered on and Bluetooth is active.
  3. Open the M-VAVE app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your SP100.
  4. Once connected, you can browse, import, and manage AMP models and Impulse Responses (IRs) to customize your sound.

6.6 Pedal Control

The SP100 is compatible with external pedals like Chocolate/Plus for enhanced control.

  1. Refer to your specific pedal's manual for connection instructions.
  2. Connect the pedal either wired or wirelessly to the SP100 as per the pedal's specifications.
  3. Use the pedal to toggle effects, switch presets, or control other parameters as configured.

6.7 Presets and Effects

The SP100 features 9 sets of presets and 6 modulation effects. These can be accessed and customized via the mobile app. The amplifier supports ANN cloning and third-party IR import for extensive sound customization.

No Sound Output:

  • If using headphones, ensure they are properly connected to the output.
  • If using Bluetooth, ensure it's paired correctly and the volume on your source device is up.
Bluetooth Not Connecting:
  • Ensure the SP100's BT button is pressed and the indicator is flashing.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your source device.
  • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device.
  • Move closer to the amplifier to ensure you are within range.
Poor Sound Quality/Distortion:
  • Check the GAIN and FULL-RIG knobs; excessive gain can cause distortion.
  • Ensure your instrument's output is not too high.
  • Check the condition of your instrument cable.
  • Adjust the TONE, MOD, and SPACE knobs to find a balanced sound.
Battery Not Charging:
  • Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the amplifier and the power adapter.
