4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

Connect the provided 12V, 1A power adapter to the electronic load unit to power the device. Ensure the adapter is securely connected to a suitable power outlet.

4.2 Load Wiring

The electronic load supports a four-wire wiring method (A+, V+, V-, A-) for precise voltage measurement, as it is not affected by the voltage drop of the connecting wires. This system is also downward compatible with a two-wire connection method. For two-wire connections, simply short-circuit A+ with V+ and V- with A-.

4.3 External Temperature Sensor (Optional)

An external NTC 3950 10K 1% temperature sensor can be connected to monitor the power supply temperature, displaying values from 0-100°C.

5. Operating Modes

The device offers four distinct operating modes:

  • Constant Current (CC) Mode: Maintains a constant current draw from the power source, regardless of voltage fluctuations.
  • Constant Voltage (CV) Mode: Maintains a constant voltage across the load, adjusting current as needed.
  • Constant Power (CP) Mode: Maintains a constant power dissipation, adjusting current and voltage inversely.
  • Constant Resistance (CR) Mode: Simulates a constant resistive load, where current changes proportionally with voltage.

Select the desired operating mode via the device's menu interface to suit your testing requirements.

6. Protection Features

The electronic load incorporates several protection mechanisms to safeguard both the device and the connected power source:

  • Overvoltage Protection (OVP): Configurable up to 150V. The device will stop discharging if the input voltage exceeds this limit.
  • Overcurrent Protection (OCP): Configurable up to 20A. Discharge will cease if the current draw surpasses this setting.
  • Over Power Protection (OPP): Configurable up to 150W. The device will stop operation if the power dissipation exceeds this value.
  • Limited Voltage Discharge (Low Voltage Protection): Allows setting a minimum discharge voltage. The device will stop discharging when the power source voltage drops below this threshold, protecting batteries from over-discharge.
  • Time Limit Discharge: Allows setting a maximum discharge duration, up to 99 hours and 59 minutes, to prevent prolonged testing.

These protections are designed to operate in a "protects first, then work" mode, effectively preventing damage to the discharge power supplys.

7. Calibration

The device supports voltage and current open calibration through its system menu. This allows for fine-tuning the measurement accuracy. Refer to the on-screen menu for specific calibration procedures.

8. Maintenance

  • Cooling System: The integrated alloy heat sink fan operates automatically when the internal temperature reaches 40°C or the current draw exceeds 3A. Ensure the fan vents are clear of obstructions for optimal cooling.
  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with the electronic load, consider the following:

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the 12V, 1A power adapter is correctly connected and functioning. Check the power outlet.
  • No load detected or incorrect readings: Verify all wiring connections (A+, V+, V-, A-). Ensure the four-wire system is correctly implemented or shorted for two-wire use. Check the power source being tested.
  • Device stops discharging unexpectedly: Check the protection settings (OVP, OCP, OPP, Limited Voltage Discharge, Time Limit Discharge). The device may have triggered one of these protections.
  • Fan not running: The fan is temperature-controlled. It will only activate when the internal temperature reaches 40°C or the current exceeds 3A. If the device is hot and the fan is still not running, ensure vents are clear.

If problems persist, contact customer support for assistance.
