4. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your Netum SD-2000 Document Scanner:
- Unpack and Unfold: Carefully remove the scanner and all accessories from the packaging. Unfold the scanner arm to its upright position.
- Position the Scan Mat: Place the provided black scan mat on a flat, stable surface. Ensure the mat is positioned correctly, with the marked scanning areas facing upwards.
- Connect to Computer: Connect the scanner to your computer using the supplied USB cable. Plug one end into the scanner's USB port and the other into an available USB 2.0 port on your computer.
- Install Software: Insert the included Software CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the scanning software and necessary drivers. If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive, please visit the official Netum support website to download the latest software.
- Power On: The scanner is powered via the USB connection. Once connected and software is installed, it should be ready for use.

5. Operating Instructions
Once the scanner is set up and the software is installed, you can begin scanning.
- Prepare Document: Place the document, book, ID card, or 3D object you wish to scan onto the scan mat. Ensure it is flat and centered within the designated scanning area for optimal results.
- Launch Software: Open the Netum scanning application on your computer.
- Adjust Lighting: If needed, press the light button on the scanner or use the software controls to adjust the 6 LED fill lights. There are 3 levels of brightness to choose from to eliminate shadows and improve clarity.
- Select Scan Mode and Settings: Within the software, choose your desired scan mode (e.g., single scan, continuous scan, scheduled scan). Configure settings such as resolution (e.g., 3264 x 2448), color mode (color, grayscale, black & white), and output format (JPEG, PDF, Word, etc.).
- Initiate Scan: Click the 'Scan' button in the software. The scanner will capture the image rapidly (approx. 1 second).
- Process and Save: After scanning, the image will appear in the software. You can then:
- Apply automatic correction or background removal.
- Use the OCR function to convert the image into editable text.
- Save the file in your chosen format (e.g., PDF, Word, Excel, TXT, HTML, RTF, CSV).
- Video Recording: The software also allows for video recording. Select the video mode, adjust frame rate (1280 x 960 SXGA, 640 x 480 VGA), and compression (MPEG, YUY2) as desired, then start recording.

6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your scanner.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the scanner lens and the main body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners, abrasive materials, or chemical solvents, as these can damage the device.
- Software Updates: Periodically check the official Netum support website for software and driver updates. Keeping your software up-to-date can improve performance, add new features, and resolve potential issues.
