3. Setup and Fueling

This hand warmer operates using lighter fluid (e.g., Zippo lighter fluid). Ensure you have an appropriate fuel source before use.

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the hand warmer and all accessories from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Remove Burner: Gently remove the catalytic burner unit from the top of the hand warmer body. It usually lifts straight out.
  3. Fill with Fuel: Slowly pour lighter fluid into the hand warmer's fuel chamber. Do not overfill. A typical fill provides warmth for several hours. Refer to the fuel manufacturer's instructions for specific fill levels and burn times.
  4. Replace Burner: Carefully place the catalytic burner unit back onto the hand warmer body, ensuring it is seated securely.
  5. Wipe Excess Fuel: Wipe away any spilled fuel from the exterior of the hand warmer and your hands before proceeding.

4. Operating Instructions

Once fueled, the hand warmer is ready for activation.

  1. Ignite the Catalyst: Hold a flame (from a lighter or match) to the catalytic burner element for approximately 5-10 seconds until a faint glow is visible. Do not hold the flame for too long, as this can damage the catalyst.
  2. Verify Activation: After removing the flame, the burner should begin to heat up without an open flame. You may feel warmth radiating from the burner.
  3. Replace Cover: Carefully place the perforated top cover back onto the hand warmer body.
  4. Use: Place the activated hand warmer into its protective pouch. The pouch helps regulate heat and protects your skin from direct contact with the hot metal. Place the pouch with the hand warmer into a pocket, glove, or other enclosed space to maximize heat retention.

The hand warmer will continue to produce heat until all the fuel has been consumed. To extinguish, remove the catalytic burner unit (use caution, it will be hot) and allow it to cool, or let the fuel run out naturally.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe off surface dust or stains promptly after use with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the product in a dry, well-ventilated location, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure it is completely cool and empty of fuel before storage.
  • Catalyst Replacement: The catalytic burner element has a limited lifespan and may need to be replaced if the hand warmer stops heating efficiently or fails to ignite. Replacement parts can typically be purchased from the manufacturer or authorized retailers.
