  • Camera (x1): Detects humans, streams live video, and records footage for monitoring.
  • Gateway ZG2 (x1): The smart control center for the system. It connects and manages Zigbee sensors, reports alarms to the Imou cloud, and pushes alerts to your app.
  • Motion Sensor ZP1 (x2): Detects human body infrared signals, even in the dark. Low power, privacy-friendly, easy to install, and triggers alarms on intrusion.
  • Door/Window Sensor ZD1 (x4): Monitors doors, windows, cabinets, and drawers. When separated from its magnet, it sends wireless alerts to the gateway for alarms or smart automation.
  • Alarm Siren ZR1 (x1): Triggers loud sound (100dB) and light alarms to deter intruders and sends alerts to your app. Can be canceled or muted locally or via the app.
  • Smart Button ZB1 (x2): A low-power Zigbee remote for easy arming, disarming, and calling for help. It has four modes: Arm at home, Arm away, Disarm, and SOS.

  1. Prepare Sensors: Remove any protective films or battery tabs from the Motion Sensors (ZP1), Door/Window Sensors (ZD1), Smart Buttons (ZB1), and Alarm Siren (ZR1).
  2. Pair Sensors: In the IMOU Life app, navigate to the Gateway settings and select 'Add Device' or 'Pair Sensor'. Follow the on-screen prompts to pair each sensor individually. This usually involves pressing a button on the sensor.
  3. Placement of Motion Sensors (ZP1): Place motion sensors in areas where intruders are likely to pass, such as hallways or main entry points. Ensure they have a clear line of sight.
  4. Placement of Door/Window Sensors (ZD1): Attach the two parts of the door/window sensors to the door/window frame and the moving part (door/window) itself. Ensure they are aligned and close enough for the magnet to register closure.
  5. Placement of Smart Buttons (ZB1): Place smart buttons in easily accessible locations near entry/exit points or in common areas.
  6. Placement of Alarm Siren (ZR1): Position the alarm siren in a central location or near an entry point where its sound can be most effective. The siren also acts as a ZigBee signal booster to extend sensor range.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the camera and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure sensor lenses (for motion sensors) are clean and free from dust for optimal performance.

5.2 Battery Replacement

Most wireless sensors (Motion Sensors, Door/Window Sensors, Smart Buttons) are battery-powered. The IMOU Life app will notify you when battery levels are low. Refer to the individual sensor manuals for specific battery types and replacement instructions.

5.3 Firmware Updates

Periodically check the IMOU Life app for available firmware updates for your devices. Keeping your devices updated ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Sensor Not Connecting/Offline

  • Check Battery: Ensure the sensor has fresh batteries and they are correctly inserted.
  • Check Range: Make sure the sensor is within range of the Gateway ZG2. The Alarm Siren ZR1 can boost the ZigBee signal for wider coverage.
  • Re-pair: Try removing and re-pairing the sensor through the IMOU Life app.
  • Gateway Status: Verify that the Gateway ZG2 is powered on and connected to your network.

6.2 False Alarms

  • Motion Sensor Placement: Ensure motion sensors are not facing windows, heat sources, or areas with pets that might trigger them. Adjust sensitivity settings in the app if available.
  • Door/Window Sensor Alignment: Verify that the two parts of the door/window sensor are correctly aligned and securely attached.

6.3 No Notifications

  • App Settings: Check your IMOU Life app notification settings to ensure they are enabled.
  • Phone Settings: Verify that notifications are enabled for the IMOU Life app in your phone's operating system settings.
  • Internet Connection: Ensure your Gateway ZG2 and smartphone have a stable internet connection.
