3. Setup

3.1 Charging the Device

Fully charge the recorder before its first use. Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the device and a power source. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours.

3.2 App Installation

The MECHEN V05 requires the 'DOWAY' app for full functionality, including AI transcription and management. Download and install the app from your smartphone's app store:

• Google Play Store (Android)
• Apple App Store (iOS)

3.3 Bluetooth Pairing

To connect your V05 recorder to your smartphone:

1. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone.
2. Open the DOWAY app.
3. Follow the in-app instructions to pair your V05 recorder.

Your V05 includes 1 year of complimentary ChatGPT Plus membership, enabling full access to advanced AI models (GPT-4o, GPT-4.1) within the DOWAY app for transcription and 'Ask AI' features. This membership is instantly activated with purchase and expires two years after activation.

3.4 Magnetic Attachment (Optional)

For convenient, hands-free recording, you can magnetically attach the V05 to your smartphone:

1. Attach the included Magnetic Ring to your smartphone case or directly to the back of your smartphone.
2. Place the V05 recorder (preferably in its Magnetic Case) onto the Magnetic Ring for a secure attachment during recording.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Device Layout

Familiarize yourself with the main components of your V05 recorder:

1. Display: Shows recording status and other information.
2. Power Button: Used for powering on/off and pausing recordings.
3. Record Button: Used to start, stop, and switch recording modes.
4. Magnetic Interface: For magnetic attachment to smartphones.

4.2 Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power Button for 3 seconds to turn the device on or off.

4.3 Start Recording

To begin recording, either push the Record Button up or initiate recording directly within the DOWAY app. The app will display real-time recording status, including duration and audio levels.

4.4 Pause Recording

During an active recording, short press the Power Button to pause the recording. Short press again to resume.

4.5 End & Save Recording

To stop and save a recording, push the Record Button down. The recorder will vibrate twice, and the word "save" will appear on the display, confirming that the recording has been saved and ended.

4.6 Note Mode & Call Mode

• When the screen is on and not recording: Double-click the Record Button to switch between NOTE mode and Call mode.
• When the screen is on and recording: Double-click the Record Button to switch modes and restart recording in the new mode.

5. AI Transcription & Management

5.1 Stop & Transcribe

1. Stop recording on the device or in the DOWAY app.
2. In the DOWAY app, select the recording you wish to transcribe.

5.2 Choose AI Model & Template

• Select AI Model: Choose between GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, or o3-mini for transcription.
• Select Template: Choose from over 30 professional templates such as Meeting Minutes, Phone Call, Lecture, Interview, Key Points, Summary, Dictation, Medical, Sales, Office, Consulting, and more. You can also create custom templates.

5.3 Select Language

Choose from 81 supported languages for transcription.

5.4 Transcribe

Tap "Transcribe" in the DOWAY app. Processing time will vary depending on the length of the recording and the selected AI model.

5.5 Access Results

View the transcribed text synchronized with your audio within the DOWAY app.

5.6 Editing & Managing Recordings

• Edit Text: Directly modify the transcribed text within the app.
• Audio Playback: Listen to your recordings. Use the variable speed playback control (from 0.75x to 2.0x).
• Trim Audio: Crop or trim recordings to remove unwanted sections.
• Translate:
  • Translate Transcription: Transcribe audio in one language and translate the text to another.
  • Translate Summarize: Get AI-generated summaries translated into your chosen language.
• Ask AI: Use the "Ask AI" feature for help summarizing complex content, generating action items, answering questions based on the transcript, or other AI-powered assistance.

• Internet Required: AI transcription, translation, Ask AI, and cloud-dependent features require an active internet connection.
• Storage: Manage your 64GB storage via the DOWAY app (delete old files, backup to cloud if supported).
• Battery Life: Actual recording time varies based on usage, Bluetooth connection, and AI processing.
• Subscription: The 1-year ChatGPT Plus membership is tied to the device/app activation. Renewal after 1 year is the user's responsibility.
• Legal Restrictions: Please strictly abide by relevant laws and do not use this product illegally. The company does not assume any commitment or responsibility for the consequences of illegal behavior.
• Privacy Protection: All data is stored only on the recording device, unless you sync the recording file with the app. In this case, the file will be stored on the smartphone.

• Disabling Vibration: To disable vibration, check the DOWAY app settings as this feature is typically controlled via software.

• Device Not Powering On: Ensure the device is fully charged. Connect it to a power source using the provided USB-C cable and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on again.
• Bluetooth Pairing Issues: Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone and that the DOWAY app is open and actively searching for the device. Try restarting both the recorder and your smartphone.
• Transcription Not Working: Check for an active internet connection, as AI transcription and cloud features require it. Also, ensure your DOWAY app subscription is active and not expired.
• App-Related Problems: If you experience any issues with the DOWAY app, ensure it is updated to the latest version available in your app store. Clearing the app's cache or reinstalling it might also resolve minor glitches.
• Poor Recording Quality: Ensure the device's microphones are not obstructed. For optimal noise cancellation, try to position the recorder closer to the sound source and away from excessive background noise.
