5. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lenses and NVR screen with a soft, dry cloth to ensure clear images. For outdoor cameras, remove any dirt, dust, or cobwebs.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the ANNKE website or mobile app for available firmware updates for your NVR and cameras. Keeping your firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance and security.
  • Connection Check: Regularly inspect all power and network connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
  • Hard Drive Health: If you have installed an HDD, monitor its health through the NVR settings. Consider backing up important footage periodically.
  • Environmental Protection: While cameras are IP66 weatherproof, extreme weather conditions can still affect performance. Ensure cameras are mounted securely to withstand wind and rain.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. No Image on NVR Screen / External Monitor

  • Check Power: Ensure the NVR and all cameras are properly powered on and their power adapters are securely connected to outlets.
  • HDMI Connection: If using an external monitor, verify the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the NVR and the monitor, and the monitor is set to the correct input source.
  • Camera Connection: Confirm cameras are within wireless range of the NVR and have successfully paired. You may need to re-pair cameras if they lose connection.

6.2. No Recording

  • Hard Drive: Ensure a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive is correctly installed and formatted in the NVR. Check the NVR settings to confirm the HDD status.
  • Recording Schedule: Verify that the recording schedule is properly configured in the NVR settings.
  • Motion Detection: If recording is based on motion, check motion detection settings and sensitivity.

6.3. Remote Access Issues

  • Network Connection: Ensure the NVR is connected to the internet (either via Ethernet cable to your router or wirelessly). Check your router's internet connection.
  • App Configuration: Double-check that the NVR is correctly added to your ANNKE mobile app.
  • Firewall/Router Settings: Your router's firewall or network settings might be blocking access. Consult your router's manual or ISP for assistance with port forwarding or UPnP settings if necessary.

6.4. False Motion Alerts

  • Sensitivity: Adjust the motion detection sensitivity in the NVR or app settings.
  • Detection Zones: Refine the motion detection zones to exclude areas with frequent irrelevant movement (e.g., trees swaying, busy roads).
  • Privacy Masking: Utilize privacy masking for areas that should not trigger alerts.

8. User Tips

  • Optimal Wi-Fi Placement: For best wireless performance, try to place the NVR centrally within the camera coverage area and avoid major obstructions like thick walls or large metal objects.
  • Secure Passwords: Always change default passwords for your NVR and mobile app account to strong, unique passwords to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Regular Backups: If critical footage is stored, consider regularly backing up data from the NVR to an external USB drive or cloud storage (if supported).
  • Test Alerts: After setting up motion detection and email alerts, perform a test to ensure notifications are being received correctly.
  • Power Cycle: If you experience minor glitches or connectivity issues, a simple power cycle (unplugging and replugging the power for both NVR and cameras) can often resolve the problem.
