4.2 Battery Installation

The meter uses two 3V AAA batteries. To install or replace batteries:

  1. Ensure the meter is turned off and test leads are disconnected.
  2. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  3. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  4. Insert two AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+ and -).
  5. Close the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

4.3 Connecting Test Leads

For most measurements (except current clamping and NCV), connect the test leads:

  • Insert the black test lead into the COM (common) jack (10).
  • Insert the red test lead into the INPUT jack (11) for voltage, resistance, temperature, and capacitance measurements.

5. Operating Instructions

The DLX-COA8320 features automatic ranging, meaning it will automatically detect the measurement type and range in most cases. Use the 'SEL' button (8) to cycle through specific functions within a mode if needed.

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the Power On/Function Selection button (8) to turn the meter on or off. The meter will automatically shut down after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity.

5.2 AC/DC Voltage Measurement

  1. Connect the test leads to the COM and INPUT jacks.
  2. Touch the test probes to the circuit points where voltage is to be measured.
  3. The meter will automatically detect AC or DC voltage and display the reading.

5.3 AC Current Measurement (Clamp Function)

  1. Ensure the meter is in AC Current mode (usually automatic or selected via 'SEL').
  2. Press the trigger (5) to open the clamp jaw (2).
  3. Enclose only one conductor (not a power cord with multiple wires) within the clamp jaw.
  4. Release the trigger to close the jaw. The AC current reading will be displayed.

5.4 Resistance Measurement

  1. Connect the test leads to the COM and INPUT jacks.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  3. Touch the test probes across the component to measure resistance.
  4. The meter will display the resistance value.

5.5 Continuity Test

  1. Connect the test leads to the COM and INPUT jacks.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
  3. Touch the test probes across the circuit or component.
  4. If continuity exists (low resistance), the meter will emit an audible beep.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the meter casing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
  • Keep the test leads and probes clean and free of debris.

6.2 Storage

  • When not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Store the meter in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Use the provided storage bag to protect the meter from dust and physical damage.

6.3 Calibration

The meter is factory calibrated. For continued accuracy, periodic calibration by a qualified service center is recommended, especially after significant impact or prolonged use.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Display: Check battery installation and charge level. Replace batteries if necessary.
  • Incorrect Readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected and not damaged. Verify the correct measurement mode is selected (though automatic ranging handles most). Check for external interference.
  • No Continuity Beep: Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Check the test leads for breaks.
  • NCV/LIVE Not Detecting: Ensure the meter is in the correct mode. The signal might be too weak or too far from the sensing area.
