5.4. Connecting Audio Sources
- Bluetooth:
- Select "Bluetooth" as the input source on the P1 PLUS.
- On your mobile device (smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for "P1 PLUS".

Video 1: Demonstrating Bluetooth connectivity with a smartphone. - PC-USB:
- Connect your computer to the P1 PLUS using the provided USB cable to the "PC-USB" port.
- Select "PC-USB" as the input source.
- Your computer should recognize the P1 PLUS as an external sound card. Select "2- USB Driver-P1PLUS" as the playback device in your computer's sound settings. This allows for high-quality audio playback up to PCM 384kHz/32bit and DSD256 decoding, bypassing the computer's internal sound card and reducing interference.
- Optical/Coaxial:
- Connect your digital audio source (e.g., CD player, TV) to the "OPTICAL" or "COAXIAL" input on the P1 PLUS using the appropriate cable.
- Select the corresponding digital input source. These inputs support up to PCM 192kHz/24bit.
- Stereo RCA / 3.5mm AUX Input:
- Connect your analog audio source to the "LINE IN" RCA ports or the 3.5mm AUX input.
- Select the appropriate analog input source.
5.5. Connecting Audio Outputs
- RCA Audio Out: Connect to a power amplifier or active speakers using RCA cables.
- 3.5mm AUX Out: Connect to a powered subwoofer or other audio devices. This output can be used simultaneously with the RCA Audio Out.
- 3.5mm Headphone Jack: Plug in your headphones. The P1 PLUS acts as a powerful headphone amplifier, driving headphones with impedances from 16-600Ω and providing up to 750mW of output power.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Tube Replacement: The JAN5654 electron tubes are replaceable. If you wish to experiment with different sound characteristics or if a tube fails, you can carefully replace them. Ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged before attempting to replace tubes.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Sound:
- Check all cable connections (power, input, output).
- Ensure the correct input source is selected on the P1 PLUS.
- Verify the volume level is not set to minimum or muted.
- If using PC-USB, ensure "2- USB Driver-P1PLUS" is selected as the playback device on your computer.
- Test with different audio sources and output devices to isolate the problem.
- Distorted Sound:
- Check if the input signal is too strong (clipping).
- Ensure all cables are securely connected and not damaged.
- Try reducing the volume of the source device.
- If using tubes, ensure they are properly seated.
- Bluetooth Connection Issues:
- Ensure the Bluetooth antenna is securely attached.
- Make sure the P1 PLUS is in Bluetooth input mode.
- Unpair and re-pair the device.
- Ensure no other devices are actively connected to the P1 PLUS via Bluetooth.
- Try restarting both the P1 PLUS and your Bluetooth device.
- Remote Control Not Working:
- Check if the remote control batteries need replacement.
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the P1 PLUS.
- Point the remote directly at the unit's IR receiver.
8. User Tips
- Tube Rolling: The P1 PLUS allows for "tube rolling," meaning you can swap out the stock JAN5654 tubes for compatible alternatives to fine-tune the sound to your personal preference. Always ensure the unit is powered off and unplugged before changing tubes.
- External Sound Card: When connecting to a computer via USB, utilize the P1 PLUS as an external sound card to bypass the often inferior internal sound processing of your computer, leading to a cleaner and higher-fidelity audio signal.
- 2.1 System Integration: The simultaneous operation of the RCA Audio Out and 3.5mm AUX Out makes it convenient to integrate a powered subwoofer, creating a more immersive 2.1 audio setup.
- Adjustable VU Meter: Customize the look of your P1 PLUS by adjusting the brightness and color of the VU meter's backlight.
