Setup and Initial Winding
Your PAGANI DESIGN automatic watch is powered by the movement of your wrist. For initial setup or after a period of inactivity, manual winding is required.
- Unscrew the Crown: The watch features a screw-down crown for enhanced water resistance. Gently unscrew the crown counter-clockwise until it pops out to the first position.
- Manual Winding: In the first position (unscrewed, but not pulled out), turn the crown clockwise approximately 30-40 times. This will provide enough power reserve to start the watch.
- Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to the second position. Turn the crown to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time.
- Setting the Date: Push the crown back to the first position (unscrewed). Turn the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
- Setting the Moon Phase: Use the small recessed pusher on the side of the case (if present and not integrated with the crown) to advance the moon phase indicator to the correct phase. Refer to a moon phase calendar for accuracy.
- Secure the Crown: Once all settings are complete, push the crown back in and screw it clockwise tightly against the case to ensure water resistance.
Operating Your Watch
Automatic Winding
Once manually wound, the watch will continue to operate as long as it is worn regularly. The automatic movement recharges its power reserve through the natural motion of your arm. If worn daily for at least 8-10 hours, it should maintain sufficient power.
Functions
- Time Display: Standard hour, minute, and second hands.
- Date Indicator: Displays the current date, typically adjusted via the crown.
- Moon Phase: Shows the current phase of the moon.
- Tourbillon: A visible rotating cage on the dial designed to counter the effects of gravity on the watch's accuracy.
- Luminous Hands/Markers: For visibility in low-light conditions.
Care and Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch case and sapphire crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather/fluorine rubber strap, use a slightly damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Water Resistance: The watch is water-resistant to 10 Bar (100 meters). This means it is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, but not for diving. Always ensure the crown is screwed down tightly before exposing the watch to water. Avoid operating the crown or pushers while the watch is wet.
- Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing your watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F) or sudden temperature changes, as this can affect the movement and seals.
- Magnetic Fields: Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, mobile phones, airport security scanners), as magnetism can affect the accuracy of mechanical movements. If magnetized, the watch may need demagnetization by a professional.
- Impact: While shock-resistant, avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to severe impacts.
- Servicing: Mechanical watches benefit from periodic servicing (typically every 3-5 years) by a qualified watchmaker to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Watch stops or runs intermittently. | Insufficient power reserve. | Manually wind the watch by unscrewing the crown and turning it clockwise 30-40 times. Wear the watch regularly for at least 8-10 hours daily. |
| Watch runs too fast or too slow. | Magnetization or need for regulation. | Keep away from strong magnetic fields. If the problem persists, consult a professional watchmaker for demagnetization or regulation. |
| Date or Moon Phase does not change correctly. | Incorrect setting or setting during restricted hours. | Ensure the time is set correctly (AM/PM). Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM. Re-adjust the date and moon phase as per the setup instructions. |
| Moisture under the crystal. | Crown not properly secured or seal compromise. | Immediately take the watch to a professional watchmaker to prevent damage to the movement. Ensure the crown is always screwed down tightly after adjustment. |
User Tips
- For consistent accuracy, consider using a watch winder if you do not wear the watch daily.
- The luminous features require exposure to light to glow in the dark. A few minutes under a bright light source will charge them.
- When traveling across time zones, adjust the time carefully, ensuring not to force the crown or hands.
