3. Setup Guide

1. Battery Installation

   Align the Li-ion battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio. Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely. To remove, press the release latch (if present) and slide the battery out.

2. Antenna Attachment

   Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is firmly seated. Do not overtighten.

3. Charging the Battery

   Connect the Type-C charging cable to the radio's charging port and plug the other end into a compatible USB power source. The battery takes approximately 2-4 hours to fully charge. A fully charged battery provides up to 72 hours of standby time.

   

4. Belt Clip and Lanyard Attachment

   Attach the belt clip to the designated slot on the back of the radio for easy carrying. The lanyard can be attached to the top or side loop for added security.

1. Power On/Off

   Rotate the power/volume knob clockwise to turn on the radio. Continue rotating to adjust the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise until it clicks to turn off.

   • FM: 65-108MHz (Receive only)

   Use the V/M button to switch between Frequency (VFO) mode and Channel (Memory) mode. Use the A/B button to switch between the upper and lower display frequencies.

   This feature allows you to quickly copy frequencies from another radio. Activate the 'One Key Quick Match' function to automatically detect and set the frequency and CTCSS/DCS tones from a nearby transmitting radio. This is ideal for rapid deployment and communication with existing radio systems.

• Cannot Communicate with Other Radios

  Ensure that all radios are set to the exact same frequency and CTCSS/DCS tones. The BAOFENG UV-K68 can communicate with any brand of walkie-talkie as long as the frequencies match.

• Limited Communication Range

  The actual communication range depends heavily on environmental obstructions. In open areas (rural, seaside), the range can be up to 5 miles. In urban areas with buildings and obstacles, the range typically reduces to 2-5 miles. Ensure you have a clear line of sight for optimal performance.

• Radio Not Powering On

  Check if the battery is properly installed and fully charged. Ensure the power/volume knob is rotated clockwise past the 'off' position.
