Power Management & Connectivity

Battery & Solar Power

The camera is equipped with a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery and an 8W solar panel for continuous power. It supports low-temperature charging, operating even at -15°C.

Note: The 8W solar panel can store 1300-1400mAh of power under 2 hours of direct sunlight. With typical usage (100 event videos/day and AOV time-lapse video), the camera consumes about 1000mAh. This suggests unlimited battery life under ideal solar conditions, though actual performance depends on event frequency and sunlight intensity.

Wi-Fi & 4G LTE Connection

The AOV Dual camera supports both 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connections. It features automatic switching between these connections if one is lost, ensuring continuous monitoring.

Dual connectivity options for reliable monitoring.

Note on 4G Data Consumption: The 4G data usage depends on your daily live view and AOV record playback. For example, previewing 5 times and viewing playback 5 times a day, with each viewing lasting 1 minute, can consume approximately 120MB of data daily.

Storage

The camera supports local storage via a Micro SD card up to 512GB. Cloud storage is also available as a value-added service.

Supports Micro SD cards up to 512GB.

SD Card Storage Capacity (in AOV mode with no event triggers):

  • 32GB: 30-40 days
  • 64GB: 70-80 days
  • 128GB: 160-170 days
  • 256GB: 340-350 days
  • 512GB: 680-690 days

When the SD card is full, it will automatically overwrite the oldest recordings. For cloud storage, new devices typically receive a 7-day free trial. After the trial, you can subscribe. Cloud recordings are automatically deleted after a set period (e.g., 3 or 7 days), so save important data in time.

Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lenses and solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear vision and efficient charging. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Imou Life App for firmware updates. Keeping your camera's firmware up-to-date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
  • Battery Health: Monitor the battery level via the app. Ensure the solar panel receives adequate sunlight to maintain battery charge. In prolonged periods of low sunlight, consider using the power adapter for charging.
  • SD Card Management: Periodically review and back up important recordings from your Micro SD card. If the card is full, older recordings will be overwritten.
  • Environmental Protection: While weatherproof, avoid direct high-pressure water jets on the camera. Ensure all covers and seals are properly closed to maintain water resistance.

Troubleshooting (FAQ)

Q: What is the difference between SD memory card and cloud storage?
A: SD card storage requires you to use a computer to view historical monitoring screens and manually save data before the card is full and overwrites old recordings. Cloud storage is a value-added service, offering a free trial period (e.g., 7 days) where you can view history directly in the app. After the trial, you can subscribe. Cloud recordings are automatically deleted after a set period (e.g., 3 or 7 days), so save important data in time.
Q: How do I modify the device's photo, name, channel name, or password in the mobile app?
A: After logging into your Imou Life App account:
  • Method 1: Go to the preview page, click the gear icon in the top right corner to access device settings, then click the device image bar to go to the Device Info page, and select the corresponding option to modify.
  • Method 2: Click "Me" -> "My Device" -> select the corresponding device -> click the device image bar to the Device Info page -> click the corresponding option to modify.
Q: The app says "Failed to bind"?
A: This usually means your device successfully connected to Wi-Fi but failed to link to your Imou account. Double-check your router's internet connection and try again. An unstable internet connection is a common cause.
Q: Why can't I add my camera to a new Imou account?
A: For security reasons, one camera can only be bound to one Imou account at a time. To add it to a new account, you must first delete it from the previous account.
  • Method 1: From the preview page, click the gear icon, go to device settings, scroll to the bottom, and select "Delete Device".
  • Method 2: Click "Me" -> "My Device" -> select the corresponding device -> scroll to the bottom -> "Delete Device".
Q: I changed my Wi-Fi or moved the camera to a new location. How do I connect it to the new Wi-Fi?
A:
  • If your camera has an Ethernet port: Connect the camera to your router with an Ethernet cable. Wait for the LED to turn solid blue (indicating internet access). In the Imou Life App, go to the device's settings page, tap "Wi-Fi Config," and connect to your new Wi-Fi.
  • If no Ethernet port or cable: Reset your camera to factory default settings, then set it up again with the new Wi-Fi network as if it were a new device.
Q: How can I receive alarm messages?
A:
  • Ensure the alarm function is enabled in the app (e.g., click the enable button in the top right corner of the channel picture on the main page).
  • If it says "Failed to subscribe," check your phone's notification settings: Enable Imou Notifications via "Settings" -> "Notifications" on your iPhone, and "Me" -> "Settings" -> "Notice" on the Imou App.
  • Verify that the event (e.g., motion detection) is enabled in the device settings and its time schedule is valid.
  • Make sure the device has a stable internet connection.
  • After successful subscription and configuration, you will receive messages.
Q: Why is the image all black when working at night?
A: Possible reasons:
  • IR LED didn’t light up.
  • ICR (IR Cut Filter) didn’t switch to night mode.
  • Objects are too far away from the camera.
Solution:
  • If IR LEDs are on but the image is black, there might be an issue with the ICR.
  • For consumer cameras, the IR distance is typically less than 10m (varies by model), so very distant objects may not be visible at night.

User Tips

  • For optimal solar charging, ensure the solar panel is positioned to receive direct sunlight for several hours daily.
  • If using 4G, monitor data usage through the Imou Life App to avoid unexpected charges, especially with frequent live viewing or playback.
  • Utilize the customizable detection zones and alarm sounds in the Imou Life App to tailor security alerts to your specific needs and reduce unnecessary notifications.
  • Regularly check the camera's field of view in the app to ensure no blind spots have developed due to environmental changes or accidental adjustments.
