5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Placement: Place the ONT/ONU on a stable, flat surface in a central location for optimal Wi-Fi coverage (if applicable). Ensure good ventilation and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources.

  2. Connect Fiber Optic Cable: Carefully connect the fiber optic cable from your service provider to the PON/Optical port on the device. Ensure the connector type (SC APC or SC UPC) matches your cable. Caution: Do not look directly into the optical port as it emits invisible laser radiation.

  3. Connect Power: Connect the provided power adapter to the POWER port on the device and then plug it into a power outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch to power on the device.

  4. Connect Ethernet Devices (Optional): For wired connections, connect your computer, smart TV, or other network devices to the LAN ports (LAN1-LAN4) using Ethernet cables.

  5. Connect Telephone (Optional): If your model supports voice services, connect your telephone to the TEL port(s).

  6. Connect CATV (Optional): If your model supports CATV (e.g., HG8247H5), connect your coaxial cable to the CATV port.

  7. Verify Indicators: Once powered on, observe the LED indicators. The PON/LOS indicator should turn solid green (or similar, indicating a stable optical link). The LAN, WLAN, and TEL indicators should light up when active.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Connecting to Wi-Fi

For models with Wi-Fi functionality:

  1. Locate the Wi-Fi Network Name (SSID) and Password (WLAN Key) on the label at the bottom of your device. For example, for HG8247H5, the SSID might be "HUAWEI-G3td" and WLAN Key "ly3d4u8w".
  2. On your wireless device (smartphone, laptop, tablet), search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select your device's SSID from the list.
  4. Enter the WLAN Key when prompted.
  5. Your device should now be connected to the Wi-Fi network.

6.2 Accessing the Web Management Interface

  1. Ensure your computer is connected to the ONT/ONU via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

The web interface allows you to view device information, configure WAN, LAN, WLAN, security settings, and more. It is recommended to change the default login password for security reasons. 7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.

8.3 Wi-Fi Connection Issues

  • Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled on the device (check WLAN LED).
  • Verify you are using the correct SSID and WLAN Key.
  • Try moving closer to the device to improve signal strength.
  • Check for interference from other electronic devices.
  • Access the web management interface to check Wi-Fi settings (e.g., channel, security mode).

8.4 Slow Internet Speed

  • Perform a speed test to confirm the issue.
  • Ensure no other devices are consuming excessive bandwidth.
  • Check for Wi-Fi interference or try a wired connection to rule out Wi-Fi issues.
