5. Setup Instructions
5.1. Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the sensor unit.
- For T01: Insert two (2) LR03-1.5V/AAA alkaline batteries.
- For T08: Insert three (3) LR03-1.5V/AAA alkaline batteries.
- Ensure batteries are inserted with correct polarity.
- Close the battery compartment cover.
Important Battery Note:
- Only LR03-1.5V alkaline batteries should be used. 1.2V rechargeable batteries may cause incorrect voltage detection and low voltage reports.
- Do not mix different models/brands of batteries, or new and old batteries. Failure to do so can lead to configuration failure or rapid battery consumption.
5.2. App Installation and Device Pairing
- Download the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
- Register or log in to your account.
- Ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. The sensor requires a 2.4GHz WiFi connection.
- In the app, tap '+' or 'Add Device'.
- Follow the in-app instructions to add the Temperature and Humidity Sensor. This typically involves putting the device into pairing mode (refer to app for specific steps, usually a button press on the device).
- Once paired, you can name your device and assign it to a room.
5.3. Mounting Options
Image 4: The sensor can be placed on a desk, pasted on a wall with adhesive tape, or adsorbed on a refrigerator with a rubber magnet sticker.
- Desktop Placement: Simply place the sensor on any flat surface.
- Wall Mounting: Use the provided adhesive tape to secure the sensor to a clean, dry wall surface.
- Refrigerator Mounting: Utilize the magnet sticker to attach the sensor to metallic surfaces like a refrigerator.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Real-time Monitoring
Once connected to the app, you can view the current indoor temperature and humidity, as well as the temperature from the external probe.
Image 5: App interface displaying indoor temperature, humidity, and external probe temperature.
6.2. External Probe Usage
The external probe is designed to detect temperature in specific environments:
- Aquariums/Fish Tanks: Monitor water temperature.
- Refrigerators/Freezers: Track storage temperatures for medicine, wine, or other items requiring specific conditions.
- Greenhouses/Incubators: Maintain optimal growing environments.
- Outdoor Monitoring: Place the probe outside a window to check outdoor temperature.
Image 6: The external probe can be used to detect temperature in environments like a fish tank.
Image 7: The external probe can be placed in a refrigerator to monitor internal temperature.
Note: External sensors only support temperature measurement, not humidity measurement.
6.3. Temperature Unit Switch (T08 Model)
For the T08 model, you can switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) by triple-clicking the reset button on the device.
Image 8: Visual representation of switching between °C and °F display on the T08 model.
6.4. Temperature & Humidity Alarms
You can set custom temperature and humidity ranges in the app. If the environment's conditions exceed or fall below these preset ranges, you will receive an alarm notification on your mobile device.
Image 9: App screenshots demonstrating how to set temperature and humidity alarms and receive notifications.
6.5. Smart Scene Linkage
Integrate your sensor with other smart devices through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app to create automated scenes. For example:
- Air Conditioner Control: If the temperature exceeds a certain threshold, automatically turn on your smart IR remote-controlled air conditioner.
- Humidifier Control: If humidity drops below a set level, automatically activate a smart humidifier.
Image 10: App interface showing how to set up a smart scene to link the sensor with an IR remote to control an air conditioner.
Image 11: App interface showing how to set up a smart scene to link the sensor with a smart humidifier.
6.6. Voice Control Integration
The sensor is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. You can query the current temperature and humidity using voice commands.
Image 12: Example of voice command interaction with Amazon Alexa to query temperature.
Note: Third-party smart speakers (Google Home/Amazon Alexa) may not display temperature and humidity normally on their apps due to lack of corresponding control panels. However, voice query functionality is supported. Route or automatic processes related to temperature and humidity cannot be established directly on third-party smart speakers. The device does not support Yandex Alice.
6.7. Historical Data Records
View historical temperature and humidity data within the app. You can also export this data to your email address.
Image 13: App screenshots showing historical data curves and the option to export data via email.
- The minimum granularity for historical data (daily chart) and exported data is 1 hour.
- Historical data is stored for 7 days.
- The values shown in historical data are average values over the minimum granularity time.
7. Maintenance
7.1. Battery Replacement
When the battery level is low, the app will notify you. Replace batteries as described in Section 5.1, ensuring to use fresh LR03-1.5V/AAA alkaline batteries.
7.2. Cleaning
Wipe the sensor unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or immerse the device in water. The external probe is waterproof, but the main unit is not.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1. Device Not Connecting to WiFi
- Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4GHz. The sensor does not support 5GHz networks.
- Check if the device is in pairing mode (refer to app instructions).
- Verify correct battery installation and sufficient battery power.
- Move the sensor closer to your WiFi router during setup.
8.2. Inaccurate Temperature/Humidity Readings
- All temperature and humidity sensors have inherent errors. This sensor has a temperature error of ±1~5°C and humidity error of ±5% RH. Values within this range are considered normal.
- Allow the sensor at least 30 minutes to acclimate to room temperature for accurate indoor readings.
- Ensure the external probe is correctly positioned and not exposed to direct sunlight or strong drafts if measuring ambient temperature.
8.3. Network Signal Testing in App
The sensor conserves battery by stopping network usage when not reporting data. Therefore, testing the network signal directly within the app may not provide meaningful results.
8.4. Third-Party Smart Speaker Issues
As noted in Section 6.6, third-party smart speaker apps (Alexa, Google Home) may not display temperature/humidity data directly. Voice queries are supported. Automated routines based on sensor data must be configured within the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app, not directly in the third-party speaker apps.
