Battery Installation / Charging

  • RN01: Requires 2 x AAA 1.5V batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the back and insert the batteries, observing polarity.
  • RN02/RN03: Equipped with a built-in Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Charge via the USB-C port (1) using a standard USB-C cable. A 2-hour charge provides approximately 72 hours of use.

Power On/Off

Long press the Power switch (3) to turn the instrument on or off. The device features an automatic shutdown function after approximately 12 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5. Operating Instructions

Measurement Modes

The instrument supports two primary measurement modes:

  • Absolute Measurement Mode: Directly displays the absolute angle value relative to a true horizontal plane.
  • Relative Measurement Mode: Allows you to set a current surface as the zero reference (0.00°) and measure subsequent angles relative to that reference. To activate, short press the ZERO button (5) on the desired reference surface.

Data Retention (HOLD)

To hold the current measurement on the display, long press the H/% key (4). This allows you to record readings easily.

Unit Switching

Single press the H/% key (4) to toggle between angle (°) and slope (%) display units.

Automatic Screen Flip

The display automatically rotates 360° to ensure readings are always upright and easy to read, regardless of the instrument's orientation.

Horizontal Laser (RN03 Only)

For the RN03 model, short press the Power switch (3) to activate or deactivate the horizontal laser for precise marking and alignment.

6. Calibration

The instrument may require recalibration if affected by impact or temperature changes to ensure measurement accuracy. Follow these steps:

Figure 6: Calibration Steps Overview
  1. Turn on the instrument. Place it on a flat, stable surface. Long press the Power button (3) and H/% key (4) simultaneously until the display shows "CR.d1" and you hear a beep.
  2. While the display shows "CR.d1", stand the meter upside down on the same flat surface. Press the H/% key (4) to confirm. The display will change to "CR.d2" and beep.
  3. While the display shows "CR.d2", rotate the instrument 90 degrees (to an adjacent side) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key (4) to confirm. The display will change to "CR.d3" and beep.
  4. While the display shows "CR.d3", rotate the instrument 180 degrees (from the previous 90° position) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key (4) to confirm. The display will change to "CR.d4" and beep.
  5. While the display shows "CR.d4", lay the back of the meter up flat on the surface, ensuring the buttons are not obstructed. Press the H/% key (4) to confirm. The display will change to "CR.d5" and beep.
  6. While the display shows "CR.d5", flip the instrument over so it's face up on the surface. Press the H/% key (4) to confirm. The display will change to "CR.d6" and beep.
  7. Finally, press the H/% key (4) one more time. The display will show "Err" briefly, followed by a checkmark, indicating that calibration is complete. The instrument will then return to normal measurement mode.

Important: During calibration, ensure the instrument is placed on a truly flat and stable surface. When laying the instrument flat, ensure the buttons are not pressed or obstructed by the surface.

9. Maintenance

  • Clean the instrument regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Keep the display screen clean and free from scratches.
  • Store the instrument in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For RN01, remove batteries if the instrument will not be used for an extended period.
  • For RN02/RN03, ensure the battery is charged periodically even if not in use to maintain battery health.

10. Troubleshooting

  • Display not turning on: Check battery installation (RN01) or battery charge level (RN02/RN03). Ensure the power button is long-pressed.
  • Inaccurate readings: Perform a calibration as described in Section 6. Ensure the measurement surface is stable and free from vibrations.
  • Screen not flipping automatically: Verify that the instrument is not in a fixed orientation that prevents the sensor from detecting movement.
  • Laser not working (RN03): Ensure the battery is charged and the laser switch (short press power button) has been activated.

11. User Tips

  • The strong magnetic base is very useful for hands-free operation on metal surfaces, allowing for more stable and accurate readings.
  • Utilize the data retention (HOLD) function when working in awkward positions or when you need to note down a measurement without losing it.
  • For the RN03 model, the horizontal laser is excellent for extending a level line across a surface, making it easier to mark points accurately.
