1. Product Overview

The Rti-Tek TRV706Z is a smart thermostatic radiator valve designed to provide intelligent control over your home heating system. It integrates with the Tuya Smart Life app via a ZigBee gateway, allowing for remote control, scheduling, and voice commands through platforms like Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Note: 3 x 1.5V AA Alkaline Batteries are NOT included and must be purchased separately.

3. Installation

3.1. Battery Installation

1. Gently press the battery compartment latch to remove the shell of the TRV.
2. Insert three 1.5V LR6 alkaline AA batteries into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity.
3. Align the latch and close the battery compartment shell securely.

3.2. Mounting the Device

1. Remove your existing thermostatic valve head from the radiator.
2. Select the appropriate adapter for your radiator valve type (Danfoss RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini, or M28*1.5mm). The TRV706Z is compatible with most radiators on the market.
3. Attach the selected adapter to the valve interface on your radiator.
4. Mount the TRV706Z device onto the adapter and secure it.

3.3. Initializing the Product

After mounting, short press the Mode button on the TRV. Wait for the initialization process to finish, which will be indicated by the temperature display stabilizing.

4. Network Configuration

The TRV706Z requires a Tuya ZigBee gateway for smart functionality. Ensure your ZigBee gateway is set up and connected to your Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz).

1. Enter OFF Mode: Press and hold the Minus (-) button on the TRV until "OFF" appears on the screen.
2. Activate Network Setup: Press and hold the Mode button on the TRV until a cycling animation appears on the screen, indicating it's in pairing mode.
3. Open Tuya Smart Life App: On your smartphone, open the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
4. Add Device: Tap the "+" icon or select "Add Device". The app should automatically scan for nearby devices.
5. Enter Wi-Fi Information: If prompted, enter your Wi-Fi network details to connect the gateway (if not already connected).
6. Complete Pairing: Once the device is discovered and added successfully, it will appear in your app. You can now control it using the app.

5.1. Device Interface and Buttons

• LED Light Display: Shows current temperature and status.
• Set Button: Used for initialization and certain settings.
• Mode Key: Cycles through operating modes.
• Plus (+) Key: Increases temperature or setting values.
• Minus (-) Key: Decreases temperature or setting values.
• Battery Compartment Latch: For accessing battery compartment.
• Union Nut for Heating Valve: Connects to the radiator valve.

5.2. Operating Modes

The TRV706Z offers several modes to suit your heating needs:

• Comfort Mode: Ensures ideal indoor temperature. Maintains pre-set comfort temperature.
• ECO Mode: Energy-saving feature that maintains temperature slightly below comfort level to prevent excessive heating and energy waste.
• Anti-frost Mode: Prevents pipe freezing by maintaining a safe temperature of 5°C. Ideal for extended absences or colder climates.
• OFF Mode: Conveniently powers down the system to save energy when not in use.
• Custom Mode: Allows for personalized temperature settings.
• Programming Mode: Enables weekly scheduling.
• Vacation Mode: Specific setting for when you are away.

5.3. Weekly Programmable Schedule

Set the temperature for up to 6 periods a day for smarter living. This can be configured via the Tuya Smart Life app.

5.4. Voice Control

5.5. Child Lock Function

Activate the child lock to prevent accidental changes to settings by children. To activate/deactivate, press and hold the "Middle button" (Mode key) for 3 seconds.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Anti-scale Function

The TRV performs a routine descaling every Monday at 12:00 AM to protect the valve from calcification and ensure optimal performance.

6.2. Low Battery Alarm

When the low battery symbol appears on the display, the batteries need to be replaced immediately to ensure continuous operation.

6.3. Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

• Device not pairing: Ensure the ZigBee gateway is online and within range. Check if the TRV is in network setup mode (cycling animation). Verify Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz.
• No heating/cooling: Check the selected operating mode and set temperature. Ensure the valve is properly installed and not stuck.
• Inaccurate temperature readings: Ensure the TRV is not obstructed or exposed to direct heat sources (e.g., sunlight, other appliances).
• App control issues: Check internet connection for both your smartphone and the ZigBee gateway. Restart the app or the gateway if necessary.
• Voice control not working: Verify that the TRV is correctly linked to your smart assistant (Alexa, Google Home) and that commands are phrased clearly.

9. User Tips

• Optimal Gateway Placement: For best performance, place your ZigBee gateway centrally within your home to ensure strong signal coverage to all TRV units.
• Battery Life: Use high-quality alkaline batteries for extended battery life. Consider rechargeable batteries for long-term cost savings and environmental benefits.
• Scheduling for Savings: Utilize the weekly programming feature to set lower temperatures when rooms are unoccupied or during sleeping hours to maximize energy savings.
• Open Window Detection: The TRV has an open window function. If a sudden drop in temperature is detected, it will temporarily stop heating to save energy. Ensure this feature is enabled in the app if desired.
• Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Tuya Smart Life app for firmware updates to ensure your device has the latest features and security patches.
