Introduction
The MAIMEIMI HC368 is a versatile Car OBD2 Scanner Diagnostic Tool designed to help users diagnose vehicle issues, read and clear engine fault codes, and perform comprehensive battery performance tests. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your HC368 device to ensure optimal performance and accurate diagnostics.

Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the HC368 scanner and its accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components are present, including the main unit and the OBD2 cable.
- Connecting to Vehicle:
- Locate your vehicle's OBD2 diagnostic port. This port is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side, but its exact location may vary by vehicle model.
- Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF before connecting the scanner.
- Plug the HC368's OBD2 connector firmly into the vehicle's OBD2 port.
- Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine can be off or running, depending on the test). The scanner will power on automatically.

Diagnostic Functions (OBDII/EOBD)
From the main menu, select "OBD/EOBD" to access the following functions:
- Read DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes): Displays current, pending, and permanent engine fault codes.
- Clear DTC: Erases all diagnostic trouble codes from the vehicle's computer. Use with caution and only after addressing the underlying issue.
- Freeze Frame: Captures a snapshot of vehicle operating conditions at the moment a fault code was set.
- I/M Readiness Status: Checks if various emission-related monitors on the vehicle are functioning properly. This is crucial for emissions testing.

Figure 5: I/M Readiness status checks key emission system components. - Vehicle Information: Retrieves vehicle identification number (VIN), calibration ID (CALID), and calibration verification number (CVN).
- Live PCM Data: Displays real-time sensor data from the vehicle's engine control module (PCM). This includes 120 pieces of real-time car data and 109 real-time data stream curve graphs.
- Oxygen Sensor Testing: Monitors and tests the functionality of the vehicle's oxygen sensors.
- Mode 6 Detection (Component System Testing): Accesses results for on-board diagnostic monitoring tests of specific components/systems that are not continuously monitored.
- Mode 8 Testing (Component Testing): Allows bi-directional control of vehicle components for testing purposes.
- DTC Library: Provides definitions for generic and manufacturer-specific diagnostic trouble codes.
- History Replay:
- Fault code history replay
- Data flow history replay
- Freeze frame history replay

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the OBD2 cable excessively. Store it neatly to prevent damage.
- Protective Cover: The included TPU protective cover helps shield the device from drops and impacts. Ensure it is properly fitted.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your HC368, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:
- Device Not Powering On:
- Ensure the OBD2 cable is securely connected to the vehicle's port and the device.
- Verify the vehicle's ignition is in the ON position.
- Check the vehicle's battery for sufficient charge.
- Communication Error:
- Confirm the vehicle supports OBD2 protocols (most gasoline vehicles after 1996 in the US, after 2003 in Europe, and after 2000 in Asia).
- Ensure the connection is stable and free from damage.
- Try connecting to a different OBD2-compliant vehicle to rule out a vehicle-specific issue.
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Ensure the vehicle's engine is at operating temperature for certain tests (e.g., oxygen sensor).
- Verify the correct vehicle information is being used if applicable.
For persistent issues, consult the manufacturer's support or a qualified automotive technician.
