6. Operating Instructions
The PG-120 offers nine distinct measurement modes and various settings for versatile use.
6.1 Measurement Modes
Press the mode button (often depicted with multiple squares or a house icon) to cycle through the following modes:
- Single Measurement: Measures the direct distance between two points.
- Continuous Measurement: Provides real-time distance updates as you move the device. Useful for finding minimum/maximum distances.
- Area Measurement: Calculates the area of a rectangular space by measuring two sides.
- Volume Measurement: Calculates the volume of a space by measuring three dimensions (length, width, height).
- Wall Area Measurement: Calculates the total area of multiple walls by measuring their combined length and a common height.
- Pythagorean-1 Measurement: Calculates an unknown side of a right-angled triangle from two known sides (e.g., height from base and hypotenuse).
- Pythagorean-2 Measurement: Calculates an unknown side using two measurements to form two right-angled triangles.
- Pythagorean-3 Measurement: Calculates an unknown side using three measurements to form multiple right-angled triangles.
- Addition/Subtraction Measurement: Allows adding or subtracting consecutive measurements.

6.2 Unit Conversion
Press the 'UNIT' button to cycle through available distance units: meters (m), feet (ft), and inches (in). Area and volume units will automatically adjust accordingly (m², ft², in² and m³, ft³, in³).
6.3 Measurement Datum Selection
The device allows you to switch between measuring from the front or the back of the device. This is crucial for accurate measurements depending on your reference point. Consult the on-screen indicator to confirm the active datum.
7. Data Management
7.1 Historical Data Record
The device can store up to 30 groups of historical measurement data. This allows for easy review and comparison of past measurements.
7.2 Data Dump
The device supports data dump functionality, allowing you to transfer stored measurements for further analysis. Refer to the on-screen prompts or specific software instructions (if applicable) for detailed steps.

8. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean and dry. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning; do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Store the device in its protective pouch when not in use to prevent damage.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
- Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed to protect against dust and moisture.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your device, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Device does not power on | Low battery; device malfunction | Charge the battery; if problem persists, contact support. |
| Inaccurate measurements | Incorrect measurement datum; unstable surface; obstruction | Verify datum setting; ensure stable placement; clear path for laser. |
| Laser not visible | Bright ambient light; laser off | Use in lower light conditions or with a target plate; ensure laser is activated. |
| Error Code displayed | Measurement outside range; internal error | Ensure target is within 0.05m-120m range; restart device; contact support if persistent. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
