3.2. Material Compatibility

The engraver can precisely work with over 200 different materials. Common materials include:

  • Acrylic
  • Glass
  • Coated Metal
  • Cylinder (with rotary attachment)
  • Wood
  • Paper
  • Cardboard
  • Stainless Steel
  • Food
  • Leather
  • Fabric
  • Rubber

Important Notes on Materials:

  • For engraving reflective objects such as metal, glass, or ceramic, it is recommended to first blacken the surface to create a layer absorbable by the diode laser, which will achieve better engraving results.
  • For cutting, the device is primarily suitable for wooden materials, black acrylic, and leather. It is not recommended to cut hard materials such as metal, ceramic, and glass.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ATOMSTACK Swift Laser Engraver.

  • **Cleaning:** Periodically clean the laser lens and the work area to prevent debris buildup, which can affect engraving quality and machine performance. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and appropriate cleaning solutions if necessary.
  • **Lubrication:** Ensure that the moving parts, such as the guide rails, are clean and lightly lubricated as per the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure smooth operation.
  • **Firmware Updates:** Check for and install any available firmware updates for the laser engraver and software to benefit from performance improvements and new features.

5. Safety and Troubleshooting

5.1. Enhanced Safety Features

The ATOMSTACK Swift is equipped with several safety features:

  • **Eye Protection:** The laser module is fitted with a laser filter cover, which effectively protects your eyes and the eyes of those around you from laser damage, even without safety goggles.
  • **Tilt Detection:** A built-in gyroscope automatically stops operation if the machine tilts beyond 15 degrees, providing an extra layer of safety.
  • **Overheat Alarm:** A temperature sensing system will stop the machine if the temperature exceeds 45°C, preventing damage. The machine will resume operation once the temperature returns to normal.
  • **Axis Limit Switches:** These provide additional safety by preventing equipment damage in case of sudden collisions.

5.2. General Safety Guidelines

  • Always ensure the laser protective cover is installed during operation. If not installed, wear appropriate laser safety goggles.
  • Do not touch the laser emitter with your hand, as it may cause burns.
  • Avoid strong impacts on the machine.
  • Children under 14 years old are not permitted to use this product. Children over 14 require adult supervision.
  • The laser engraving machine cannot be directly applied to any mirror-reflecting object, as this may cause injury to the operator or damage the laser.

8. User Tips

  • **Acrylic Cutting:** The ATOMSTACK Swift is capable of cutting acrylic, specifically 4mm black acrylic in a single pass.
  • **Reflective Materials:** For best engraving results on reflective materials like metal, glass, or ceramic, apply a layer of blackening agent to the surface before engraving. This helps the diode laser absorb more energy.
  • **Material Limitations:** While versatile, remember that cutting is best suited for wooden materials, black acrylic, and leather. Avoid attempting to cut very hard materials such as metal, ceramic, and glass to prevent damage to the machine and ensure safety.
  • **Expand Your Workspace:** If you require a larger engraving area for bigger projects (e.g., photo frames, guitars, skateboards), consider purchasing the optional Y-axis extension kit to expand the work area to 300×800mm.
