5. Setup
5.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
5.2 Unfolding the Bike
- Place the folded bike on a stable surface.
- Release the frame folding latch, typically located on the main frame tube.
- Carefully unfold the frame until it locks into place. Ensure the latch is securely fastened.
- Unfold the handlebars and secure the handlebar stem latch.
- Adjust the seat post to your desired height and secure it with the quick-release lever.
5.3 Handlebar and Seat Adjustment
- Adjust the handlebar height and angle for a comfortable riding position. Ensure all bolts are tightened.
- Adjust the seat height so your feet can comfortably touch the ground when stopped, and your legs have a slight bend at the knee when pedaling.
5.4 Battery Charging
Before your first ride, fully charge the battery. The battery is detachable for convenient charging indoors.
- Locate the charging port on the battery or bike frame.
- Connect the charger to the battery, then plug the charger into a standard wall outlet.
- The charger indicator light will typically show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
- Charging time is approximately 4-5 hours. Do not overcharge.
5.5 Pre-Ride Checks
- Tires: Ensure tires are inflated to the recommended pressure (check sidewall).
- Brakes: Test both front and rear brakes for proper function and responsiveness.
- Gears: Check that the 21-speed shifter operates smoothly through all gears.
- Fasteners: Verify all quick releases, bolts, and nuts are securely tightened.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Handlebar Controls and LCD Display
Figure 5: Smart LCD Display and Handlebar Controls Diagram
Your KETELES MX300 is equipped with a Smart LCD Display and intuitive handlebar controls:
- LCD Display: Shows Battery Status, Real-time Speed, Speed Grade (assist level), and Odometer.
- Power Button: Turns the e-bike system on/off.
- Acceleration/Deceleration Buttons (+/-): Adjust pedal-assist levels or speed in throttle mode.
- Headlight Switch: Controls the front headlight.
- Horn Switch: Activates the horn.
- Shifter: Changes the mechanical gears (21 speeds).
- Brake Levers: Activates the front and rear disc brakes.
- Keyed Start Switch: For additional security and power activation.
- Twist Throttle: Provides power on demand without pedaling.
6.2 Working Modes
Figure 6: Three Working Modes Diagram
The MX300 offers three distinct riding modes:
- Bike Mode (Pedal Only): Power off. Functions as a normal bicycle, relying solely on pedal power.
- Pedal-Assist Mode: Power on. The motor provides assistance as you pedal. Adjust the level of assistance using the acceleration/deceleration buttons. No throttle input is needed.
- Throttle Mode: Power on. Engage the twist throttle to propel the bike without pedaling. This mode provides power on demand.
6.3 Shifting Gears
Figure 7: Professional 21 Speed Shifter and Climbing Ability (30° gradient)
The 21-speed shifter allows you to adapt to various terrains and inclines. Shift to lower gears for climbing hills (up to 30° gradient) and higher gears for flat terrain or downhill riding. Always shift gears while pedaling lightly to ensure smooth transitions and prevent damage to the drivetrain.
6.4 Riding on Various Terrains
Figure 8: 26" x 4.0" Fat Tire All-Terrain Capability (Snow, Mountain, Sand, City Road)
The 26" x 4.0" fat tires and full suspension system (Figure 9) are designed to adapt to various terrains, including snow roads, mountain roads, sand roads, and city roads. Adjust your speed and assist level according to the terrain and your comfort. The front and rear shock absorption helps in driving on uneven roads without feeling bumps.

7. Maintenance
7.1 General Cleaning
Regularly clean your e-bike with a damp cloth. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on electrical components.
7.2 Tire Pressure
Check tire pressure before each ride. Maintain the recommended pressure for optimal performance and safety. Fat tires typically require lower pressures than standard bike tires.
7.3 Brake Inspection
Inspect brake pads for wear and ensure brake levers provide firm and consistent stopping power. Adjust or replace as necessary.
7.4 Chain Lubrication
Keep the chain clean and lubricated to ensure smooth gear changes and prolong its lifespan.
7.5 Battery Care
- Charge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its health.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to 50-70% capacity.
- The battery is detachable for secure storage and charging.
7.6 Folding Mechanism
Periodically inspect the folding mechanism for any signs of wear or looseness. Ensure it locks securely every time you unfold the bike.
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 Bike Not Powering On
- Check if the battery is properly inserted and locked.
- Ensure the battery is charged.
- Verify the keyed start switch is in the 'ON' position.
- Press and hold the power button on the LCD display.
8.2 Motor Not Assisting
- Ensure the e-bike system is powered on.
- Check the battery level on the LCD display.
- Verify you are in Pedal-Assist or Throttle Mode.
- Ensure brake levers are not partially engaged, as this can cut motor power.
8.3 Brakes Not Working Effectively
- Inspect brake pads for wear and replace if necessary.
- Check brake cables for tension and adjust if loose.
- Ensure brake calipers are properly aligned with the rotors.
8.4 Gears Not Shifting Smoothly
- Check the derailleur alignment.
- Ensure the chain is clean and lubricated.
- Inspect shifter cables for proper tension.
9. User Tips
- Start Slow: If new to e-bikes, begin with the lowest pedal-assist level to get accustomed to the motor's power.
- Anticipate Braking: Due to the added weight and speed, allow more distance for braking compared to a traditional bicycle.
- Regular Checks: Make it a habit to quickly check tire pressure, brakes, and battery level before every ride.
- Secure Your Bike: Always use a robust lock when leaving your e-bike unattended, especially given its value.
- Weather Conditions: While the fat tires offer versatility, exercise caution when riding in wet, icy, or extremely loose conditions.
- Battery Longevity: Avoid completely draining the battery. Charge it after each significant ride to prolong its overall lifespan.
