5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Long press the Power button (3 in Figure 3).
  • Power Off: Long press the Power button again. The device also features an automatic shutdown function after approximately 12 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery.

5.2 Measurement Modes

The inclinometer supports two measurement modes: Absolute and Relative.

Diagram illustrating Absolute and Relative measurement modes. Absolute mode shows the angle relative to true horizontal. Relative mode allows setting a custom zero point.

Figure 6: Absolute vs. Relative Measurement Modes

  • Absolute Measurement Mode: This is the default mode. The display shows the angle relative to the true horizontal (0°) or vertical (90°).
  • Relative Measurement Mode: To enter relative mode, place the inclinometer on a surface you wish to use as your reference (e.g., 7.5° inclined plane). Short press the ZERO key (5 in Figure 3). The display will show 0.00°, indicating this new surface is now your reference. Subsequent measurements will show the angle relative to this new zero point. Short press the ZERO key again to return to absolute measurement mode.

5.3 Unit Switching

Single press the H/% key (4 in Figure 3) to switch the display unit between degrees (°) and percentage (%).

5.4 Data Hold

Long press the H/% key (4 in Figure 3) to hold the current measurement value on the display. Long press again to release the hold function and resume live measurement.

5.5 Horizontal Laser (RN03 Only)

For the RN03 model, short press the Power button (3 in Figure 3) to turn the horizontal laser on or off. The laser projects a red line to assist with alignment and marking.

5.6 Automatic Screen Flip

The inclinometer's display automatically flips when the instrument is inverted, ensuring the readings are always upright and easy to read from any angle.

6. Calibration

The instrument needs to be recalibrated if it has been affected by impact or temperature changes to ensure measurement accuracy. Follow these steps for proper calibration:

Step-by-step calibration guide for ANENG RN03 inclinometer. Shows placing the device on a flat surface, long pressing H/% and ZERO, rotating 90 degrees, pressing H/%, rotating 180 degrees, pressing H/%, laying flat with button dangling, pressing H/%, flipping over, pressing H/%, and finally pressing H/% again to complete.

Figure 9: Calibration Steps

  1. Step 1: Turn on the instrument. Place it on a flat, horizontal surface. Long press the Power button and the H/% key simultaneously until 'CR.d1' appears and starts to flicker and beep.
  2. Step 2: While 'CR.d1' is flickering, rotate the instrument 180° on the same flat surface and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. 'CR.d2' will appear and start to flicker and beep.
  3. Step 3: While 'CR.d2' is flickering, rotate the instrument 90° and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. 'CR.d3' will appear and start to flicker and beep.
  4. Step 4: While 'CR.d3' is flickering, rotate the instrument 180° and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. 'CR.d4' will appear and start to flicker and beep.
  5. Step 5: While 'CR.d4' is flickering, place the instrument display screen horizontally down on the edge of the plane. Ensure that the button is suspended (not touching the surface). Press the H/% key to confirm. 'CR.d5' will appear and start to flicker and beep.
  6. Step 6: While 'CR.d5' is flickering, turn the instrument 180° as shown in the figure (display screen upwards) and lay it flat. Press the H/% key to confirm. 'CR.d6' will appear and start to flicker and beep.
  7. Step 7: Wait until the 'CR.d6' on the screen flashes and buzzes. Press the H/% key. The screen will display 'CR.d'. After about 3 seconds, the instrument calibration is completed, and it will enter normal measurement mode.
