1. Product Introduction

The Phomemo M250 is a versatile thermal label printer designed for various labeling needs, from DIY projects to commercial applications. It supports both wireless Bluetooth and wired USB connections, offering flexibility across multiple operating systems.

The paper roll is typically pre-installed in the printer for initial use.

1.2 Printer Parts Instruction

Familiarize yourself with the different components of your Phomemo M250 printer:

  • Paper Exit: Where printed labels emerge.
  • Power/Menu Button: Used to power on/off and navigate menus.
  • Display: Shows status, battery level, and menu options.
  • Feed/Select Button: Used to feed paper or select menu options.

2. Getting Started

2.1 Downloading the App

The Phomemo M250 printer requires the "Print Master" app for wireless operation. You can download it using one of the following methods:

  1. Method 1: Search for "Print Master" on the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android) and install the app.
  2. Method 2: Scan the QR code provided in the Quick Start Guide or on the product packaging using your phone's camera or a dedicated QR code scanning app.

Note: Safari browser on Apple devices may not support direct QR code scanning. Use your device's built-in QR code scanner instead.

2.2 Initial Connection (Bluetooth)

Follow these steps for the first-time connection and setup:

  1. Remove Protective Film: Peel off any protective film from the printer.
  2. Power On: Long press the Power Button for 3 seconds until the Display lights up.
  3. Open App: Open the "Print Master" app on your mobile device.
  4. Auto Connect: Tap "[Auto Connect]" in the app.
  5. Grant Permissions: Grant necessary Bluetooth permissions to the app when prompted.
  6. Searching: The app will search for available printers.
  7. Connected: Once found, select your printer from the list (e.g., "M250 Series") and tap the connection icon (usually a checkmark or Bluetooth symbol) to connect. The app will display "Connected".

2.3 More Connection Methods

In addition to Bluetooth, the M250 supports wired connections for broader compatibility:

  • Wireless Connection: Pair via Bluetooth and use the "Print Master" App (iOS, Android, iPad).
  • Wired Connection: Use the provided USB Type-C cable to connect to a computer (Windows, macOS). Download the "Labelife" software and drivers from Phomemo.com for wired printing.

3. Operation

3.1 Basic Printing

Once connected, you can proceed with printing your first label:

  1. Identify Label Size:
    • Take out the unused paper roll from the printer.
    • Aim the scanning frame in the "Print Master" app at the QR code on the paper roll's Anti-loosening Sticker.
    • The app will identify the label size.
    • If no QR code or using separately purchased rolls, refer to the "Online Guide" for manual label size identification.
  2. Edit Label: Edit your label within the "Print Master" app. The app offers rich design tools including OCR text scanning, voice input, batch printing, 110+ fonts, and 20+ languages.
  3. Print: Tap "[Print]" after you finish editing.
  4. Completion: Printing is completed when the app indicates "Printing completed".
  5. Tear Off: Tear off the label along the Paper Exit using the manual cutter.
  6. Apply: Remove the liner and attach the label to a dry, flat surface.

3.2 Replacing the Paper Roll

To replace an empty or change a paper roll:

  1. Power On: Long press the Power Button for 3 seconds until the Display lights up.
  2. Open Cover: Press down the Cover Open Lever and remove the current paper roll from the Paper Compartment.
  3. Adjust Guides: Slide the Paper Guides outwards as far as they can go.
  4. Prepare New Roll: Remove the Anti-loosening Sticker from the new paper roll.
  5. Load Roll: Place the new paper roll in the Paper Compartment, ensuring it is placed in the right direction (label paper faces the Power Button and is higher than the Paper Exit).
  6. Adjust Guides: Slide the Guides inwards to the edges of the paper roll, securing it.
  7. Close Cover: Extend the label paper out above the Paper Exit and then close the Top Cover.
  8. Calibration: The Paper Exit will automatically feed out a blank piece of label paper, indicating that calibration is completed.

4. Charging Instructions

To ensure optimal battery life and performance, follow these charging guidelines:

  1. Power Adapter: Use your own power adapter (DC 5V/2A) with a Type-A port.
  2. Connect Cable: Insert the Type-C end of the USB cable into the M250's Type-C Charger Port and plug the Type-A end into your power adapter.
  3. Check Display:
    • When the printer is off, "Charging..." will be displayed.
    • When the printer is on, a battery icon will appear in the top right corner of the Display.
  4. Initial Charge: For quick usage, charge the printer for at least 20 minutes.
  5. Full Charge: For a complete charge, wait 2-3 hours or until the Display indicates "Charge Finished".
  6. Safety: The printer may heat up during charging. Avoid placing it on flammable materials like cotton or linen.
  7. Unplug: Once fully charged, promptly unplug the charger.

Note: Using the printer while charging will slow down the charging speed. To preserve battery life, it is not advisable to print while charging.

5. Display and Button Instructions

5.1 Display Instructions

The M250's display provides important status information:

  • Standby Interface: Default screen when idle.
  • Top Cover Opened: Indication when the top cover is open.
  • Settings: Icon for accessing settings.
  • Connected to Computer: Icon changes when connected via USB.
  • Gap Label: Indicates gap-type labels are loaded.
  • Black Mark Label: Indicates black mark-type labels are loaded.
  • Continuous Label: Indicates continuous-type labels are loaded.
  • Feeding/Printing: Status during paper feed or printing.
  • Charging Status: Icon indicating charging.
  • Battery Level: Shows current battery charge.
  • Bluetooth Connected: Icon indicating active Bluetooth connection.
  • Printer Serial Number (SN Code): Displayed for identification.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Phomemo M250 printer, try the following solutions:

  • Printer Not Connecting via Bluetooth:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
    • Make sure the printer is powered on and within range.
    • Check if the "Print Master" app has Bluetooth permissions.
    • Try restarting both the printer and your mobile device.
    • In the app, try "Auto Connect" again or manually select the printer.
  • Poor Print Quality:
    • Check the "Darkness" setting in the printer's menu (Section 5.3) and adjust it to a higher value if prints are too light.
    • Ensure you are using high-quality thermal paper.
    • Clean the print head (refer to maintenance section if available, otherwise gently wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth).
    • Make sure the paper roll is inserted correctly and not loose.
  • Paper Jams or Incorrect Feeding:
    • Ensure the paper roll is loaded correctly and the paper guides are adjusted to fit the roll snugly without being too tight.
    • Verify that the label paper is extended out above the Paper Exit before closing the Top Cover.
    • Check for any foreign objects in the paper compartment.
  • Printer Not Responding:
    • Check the battery level on the display. If low, charge the printer.
    • If unresponsive, try performing a factory reset using the "Restore Settings" option in the menu (Section 5.3) or by using a pin in the Reset Hole.
  • App Issues:
    • Ensure your "Print Master" app is updated to the latest version.
    • Clear the app's cache or reinstall it if problems persist.
