BT4-21700 Battery Capacity Tester User Manual

Model: BT4-21700

1. Introduction

The BT4-21700 is a fourth-generation, safe, and non-heating 4-channel lithium battery testing electronic load tester designed for accurate capacity measurement and performance evaluation of 21700 batteries. It features four independent channels that allow for simultaneous charging, discharging, capacity sorting, and aging tests without interference. The device is equipped with a 1.77-inch color screen for real-time display of test parameters and supports reverse polarity protection for enhanced safety and reliability.

2. Safety Information

  • Reverse Polarity Protection: The device supports reverse polarity protection to prevent damage from incorrectly installed batteries. However, always ensure correct battery orientation.
  • Battery Compatibility: This tester is designed for Ternary Lithium Iron Phosphate 21700 batteries. Do NOT attempt to charge Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries with this device.
  • Damaged Batteries: Do NOT test damaged or leaking batteries. This can be extremely dangerous and may lead to thermal runaway, fire, explosion, or other catastrophic consequences.
  • Power Supply: Use only two DC 5V 3A or higher adapters via the Type-C port for power. Using an inadequate power supply may affect performance or damage the device.
  • Heat Dissipation: The device includes an active cooling fan. Ensure proper ventilation and do not obstruct the fan during operation.

5. Operating Instructions

The BT4-21700 offers multi-functionality with an easy-to-use interface.

  1. Power On: Once batteries are installed and power is connected, the device will power on automatically.
  2. Interface Language: The device supports switching between Chinese and English interfaces for user convenience. Refer to the on-screen prompts or buttons for language selection.
  3. Real-time Display: The 1.77-inch color screen displays real-time test parameters including Voltage (V), Current (A), Cumulative Capacity (mAh), Cumulative Energy (mWh), Reference Internal Resistance (mR), Discharge Stop Voltage (V), and Cycle Count (LOOP).
  4. Operating Modes: The device supports various operating modes:
    • MODE: AUTO: Automatic testing sequence.
    • MODE: CHG (Charge): Charges the battery. Charging voltage is fixed at 4.2V, non-adjustable, with a maximum non-constant current of 1A.
    • MODE: DSG (Discharge): Discharges the battery. Discharge current is a maximum of 1A non-constant, non-adjustable. The stop (discharge) voltage is adjustable from 2.5V to 3.5V in 11 steps.
  5. Navigation and Selection: Use the physical buttons below the screen to navigate through menus, select channels, and adjust parameters.
  6. Starting/Stopping Tests: Follow the on-screen instructions to start or stop charging, discharging, or other test functions for each channel independently.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid using liquids or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the cooling fan is not obstructed during operation to maintain optimal heat dissipation.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
  • Discharge Resistor: The discharge resistor is a 6W 3Ω 9J wirewound resistor and is not designed for modification. Do not attempt to alter it.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On: Check if two DC 5V 3A or higher adapters are correctly connected to the Type-C ports. Ensure the power source is active.
  • Incorrect Battery Reading: Verify that the batteries are inserted with correct polarity. Ensure the batteries are not damaged or leaking.
  • Internal Resistance Readings: Note that the DC two-wire method for internal resistance measurement provides results for reference only. For highly precise internal resistance measurements, specialized equipment may be required.
  • Overheating: Ensure the cooling fan is operating correctly and is not obstructed. Operate the device in a well-ventilated area.
