1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the EASYGUARD CANBUS PKE Remote Starter. This system enhances your vehicle's security and convenience with features like passive keyless entry, remote engine start, and optional smartphone control. This manual provides essential information for proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your system.

Important Notes:

  • This system is designed exclusively for MINI F54, F55, F56, F57, F60 models manufactured between 2015 and 2022 that are equipped with an OEM push-to-start button.
  • This system is NOT compatible with vehicles that have a comfort access function.
  • One (1) original key fob is required during the installation of the EASYGUARD PKE remote starter.
  • Professional car alarm/audio installer installation is highly recommended to ensure correct functionality and avoid damage to your vehicle.

  • Optional: BT001-BB (Bluetooth module) or GPS002-BB (4G LTE GPS module) - These are sold separately and are required for smartphone APP control and GPS tracking features.

3. Main Features

The EASYGUARD CANBUS PKE Remote Starter offers a range of advanced features for vehicle convenience and security:

  • PKE (Passive Keyless Entry): Automatically locks or unlocks your car doors when you approach or walk away from the vehicle within a range of 3-6 feet, provided the key fob is on your person.
  • Compatible with Factory OEM Push to Start Vehicles: Seamless integration with your vehicle's existing push-to-start system.
  • Remote Engine Start: Start your vehicle remotely to pre-cool it in summer or pre-warm it in winter.
  • Smartphone APP Control Car (Optional): With an additional 4G LTE GPS module (GPS002-BB) or BT module (BT001-BB), you can control your car via a smartphone app. Features include lock, unlock, remote start/stop, and 4G GPS tracking (with GPS002-BB). Compatible with iOS & Android.
  • Automatic Mirror Fold and Window Close: If your vehicle supports this feature, the system can automatically fold mirrors and close windows when the car is locked.
  • Remote Trunk Release: Open your car's trunk remotely.
  • Panic Mode/Car Finding: Easily locate your vehicle in a crowded parking lot or activate an alarm in an emergency.

4. Setup and Installation

Professional installation is required. The following diagrams provide guidance for a qualified installer.

4.1. Key Fobs Overview

The system includes two key fobs. Familiarize yourself with their functions:

4.2. Wiring Diagram - CAN BUS and Push Start

The CAN BUS connector is typically found under the driver's seat. The two yellow push-start switch wires should be connected to the car's factory push-start button wires, specifically 7B 54PIN #45 & #49 wires, which are usually gray and white.

4.3. Bypass Module, 12V Power, and Door Trigger Wiring

  • Bypass Module Connection: Remove the factory key's battery and insert the PCB into the bypass module.
  • Red 12V Constant Wire: Connect this wire to a constant 12V source or the main battery +12V wire.
  • Door Trigger Wire: The door trigger wire is located at the passenger side black connector, 2B 42PIN #30pin.

4.4. Control Module Connections

The control module has various connection points for antennas and switches:

  • Programming Switch: Connect as indicated.
  • HF Antenna: Connect the High Frequency antenna.
  • PKE Antenna: Connect the PKE antennas.
  • Dip Switch: Configure as per installation requirements.
  • Optional Modules: GPS002-BB or BT001-BB can be connected here.

4.5. Antenna Installation Positions

Proper placement of the antennas is crucial for optimal performance of the PKE system.

  • P1 & P2: High frequency antenna installation positions. Choose one of these for the high frequency antenna.
  • P3 & P4: PKE antenna installation positions.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Passive Keyless Entry (PKE)

With the key fob on your person, the system will automatically unlock your vehicle as you approach within 1-2 meters and lock it as you walk away beyond 2-3 meters.

5.2. Remote Engine Start/Stop

To remotely start or stop your vehicle, hold the lock button on your key fob for approximately 3 seconds. This feature allows you to pre-condition your car's interior temperature.

5.3. Remote Trunk Release

To open the trunk remotely, hold the trunk release button on your key fob for approximately 5 seconds.

5.4. Panic Mode / Car Finding

In lock/arm status, press the lock button once to activate panic mode or locate your vehicle.

5.5. Smartphone APP Control (Optional)

If you have installed the optional 4G LTE GPS module (GPS002-BB) or BT module (BT001-BB), you can control your vehicle via a dedicated smartphone application. This app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

5.6. Automatic Mirror Fold and Window Close (Optional)

For vehicles that support this function, the system can automatically fold the side mirrors and close any open windows when the car is locked.

6. Maintenance

  • Keep key fobs dry and away from extreme temperatures.
  • Replace key fob batteries as needed to ensure reliable operation.
  • Avoid exposing the control module and other components to moisture or excessive heat.
  • Regularly check wiring connections for any signs of wear or damage.
  • For any complex issues, consult a professional installer.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EASYGUARD system, consider the following common solutions:

  • System not responding to key fob: Check key fob battery. Ensure you are within the effective range.
  • PKE not working: Verify PKE antennas are correctly installed and not obstructed. Ensure key fob battery is sufficient.
  • Remote start failure: Check vehicle battery status. Ensure all doors are closed and the hood is latched.
  • Smartphone app issues: Ensure the optional GPS002-BB or BT001-BB module is correctly installed and powered. Check your smartphone's internet connection and app settings.
  • Unexpected behavior: A professional installer should verify all wiring connections and system programming.
