3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your ASMAX Z1 intercom on your helmet:
Prepare the Main Unit and Mount: Attach the Z1 Main Unit to the Magnet Mount.

Attach Mount to Helmet: Secure the Magnet Mount to the side of your helmet using either the 3M Glue Plate or the Metal Clamp. Ensure a firm attachment.

Install Speakers: Place the speaker units inside the helmet's ear pockets. Use the provided Velcro pads to secure them. Ensure they are positioned comfortably over your ears.

Connect Microphone: Choose between the Hybrid Microphone (boom mic) or the Wired Microphone (button mic) based on your helmet type (full-face or open-face). Connect it to the main unit.

Route Cables: Carefully route all cables (speakers and microphone) within the helmet lining to avoid interference and ensure comfort. Connect them to the Z1 Main Unit.

4. Basic Operations

4.1 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press and hold the Function Button for 2 seconds.
- Power Off: Press and hold the Function Button for 2 seconds.
4.2 Volume Control
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, volume up" to increase volume, or "Hi Max, volume down" to decrease volume.
- Button Control: Tap the Volume + button to increase volume, or the Volume - button to decrease volume.
4.3 LED Indicators
The LED indicator on the Intercom Button and Function Button provides status information:
- Blue: Bluetooth connected / Intercom active
- Red: Charging / Low battery
- Green: Fully charged
- Flashing Red/Blue: Pairing mode
4.4 Charging
The ASMAX Z1 features a Type-C charging port and a 1050mAh battery with fast charging. A full charge takes approximately 42 minutes, providing up to 14 hours of talk time or 17 hours of music time.
- Connect the provided Type-C cable to the charging port on the main unit and a suitable USB power source.
- Note: Do not use a charger with an output voltage exceeding 15V.
5. Phone and GPS Pairing
Connect your ASMAX Z1 to your smartphone or GPS device for calls, music, and navigation.

5.1 Voice Command Pairing
- Say "Hi Max, phone pairing" to initiate pairing mode.
5.2 Button Control Pairing
- In standby mode, press and hold the Function Button for 1 second until the LED indicator flashes red and blue.
- On your smartphone or GPS device, go to Bluetooth settings and search for "ASMAX Z1".
- Select "ASMAX Z1" to connect. The LED will turn blue when successfully paired.
6. Phone Calls
Manage your phone calls hands-free while riding.

6.1 Answering Calls
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, answer the phone".
- Button Control: Tap any button once.
6.2 Ending Calls
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, hang up".
- Button Control: Tap the Function Button once.
6.3 Rejecting Calls
- Button Control: Press and hold the Function Button for 3 seconds.

7.1 Play/Pause Music

7.2 Previous/Next Track
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, previous track" or "Hi Max, next track".
- Button Control: Hold the Volume - button for 2 seconds for the previous track. Hold the Volume + button for 2 seconds for the next track.
8. Intercom Modes

8.1 Group Mesh
Connect effortlessly with up to 10 riders for seamless communication up to 1.8 km.
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, group mesh".
- Button Control: Press and hold the Intercom Button for 2 seconds.
8.2 Group Mode
For private conversations within a group mesh.
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, group mode".
- Button Control: Tap the Intercom Button once after forming a group mesh.
8.3 Free Mode
For quick start talk with any member within range.
- Voice Command: Say "Hi Max, free mode".

8.4 Universal Mode
Allows pairing with other brands of intercoms.
- Enter Pairing: Press and hold the Intercom Button for 3 seconds.
- Other Brand Intercom: Follow the instructions of the other brand's intercom to enter pairing mode.
- Start Intercom: Once paired, tap the Intercom Button twice to start communication.

12. Factory Reset

- Poor audio quality/Noise: Verify that the speakers are correctly positioned over your ears and the microphone is close to your mouth. The Intelligent ENC/DSP Noise Cancellation should minimize environmental noise, even at speeds up to 160km/h.
- Intercom range issues: Ensure there are no significant obstacles between riders. For optimal range, maintain a clear line of sight.
- Voice commands not responding: Ensure you are saying "Hi Max" clearly before the command. Check if the device is connected to the ASMAX app and has internet access for online voice commands. Offline commands are also available.
- Intermittent connection: Ensure your firmware is up to date via the ASMAX WORLD app.

- Optimal Speaker Placement: For the best audio experience and noise reduction, ensure the speakers are centered over your ears inside the helmet.
- Voice Command Clarity: Speak clearly and at a moderate volume when using voice commands. The AI voice control is designed to work well even with helmet noise.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check the ASMAX WORLD app for firmware updates. These updates often include performance improvements and new features.
- Magnetic Mount Security: Always double-check that the main unit is securely attached to the magnetic base before riding.
