4. Initial Setup
This section guides you through the initial connection and configuration of your Comfast Outdoor AP.
4.1. Physical Connection
- Power On: Under default configuration, power on the device and wait for approximately 90 seconds for it to start up.
- Connect to Computer: Set your computer to automatically obtain an IP address. Connect the LAN1 port of the AP to your computer's Ethernet port.
- Alternative Connection (Wireless): Connect to the device's wireless SSID (default is COMFAST_XXXX_2G or COMFAST_XXXX_5G, where XXXX are the last 4 digits of the AP's MAC address).
Physical ports and POE/DC power supply options.
4.2. Accessing the Web Management Interface
- Open a web browser on your connected computer.
- In the address bar, input
192.168.10.1and press Enter to access the device login page. - Default Credentials:
- Username:
admin - Password:

- Username:
- Language Selection: The device supports both Chinese and English. You can select your preferred language using the icon in the top right corner of the login page.
5. Operating Modes
The Comfast CF-EW87 supports four main working modes: AP Mode, Bridge Mode, Router Mode, and Repeater Mode. You can select the desired mode in the Wizard upon initial setup.
Hardcore Configuration for Outdoor Use, including various features and device capacity.
5.1. AP Mode (Access Point)
In AP mode, the device acts as a central hub for wireless clients. It allows you to set up 2.4G and 5.8G wireless SSIDs, passwords, channels, and country settings. Once configured, mobile devices can connect to the SSID to access the internet via the AP's WAN port or PoE adapter LAN port.
- IP Address Setup: The AP needs to be assigned an intranet IP address. Ensure this IP address is within the same network segment as your upper network but does not conflict with the upper network router's IP. IP addresses for devices connected to the AP will be allocated by the upper network router.
- Wireless Settings: Configure your desired SSID name, password, operating channel, and country for both 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands.
5.2. Bridge Mode
Bridge mode is used to extend your wireless network by connecting two or more wired networks wirelessly. Ensure that WDS (Wireless Distribution System) is enabled on your upper network device.
- Intranet Segment: Set up an intranet segment for the AP, ensuring its IP address is not the same as the upper router.
- Wireless Connection: Select the wireless SSID signal of the upper network you wish to bridge and enter its wireless password. (Note: The password must match your upper network router's password).
5.3. Repeater Mode
Repeater mode extends the range of your existing wireless network by relaying the signal. The AP device can set its internal network segment (the gateway IP should not be the same as the upper device gateway IP).
- Network Segment: Configure the internal network segment for the AP.
- Relay Setup: Select the wireless SSID signal you want to relay from the available scan results and input its wireless password. (Note: The password must match your upper network router's password).
5.4. Router Mode
In Router mode, the device functions as a standard router, providing internet access to connected devices. It supports three common internet connection types:
- PPPoE: For connections requiring a username and password from your ISP.
- Static IP: For connections where your ISP provides a fixed IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers.
- DHCP: For connections where your ISP automatically assigns network settings.
Refer to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the correct connection type and parameters.
6. Installation
The Comfast CF-EW87 supports both wall-mounted and pole-mounted installation methods. Choose the method most suitable for your outdoor environment.
6.1. Wall-mounted Installation

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Comfast Outdoor AP, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected and the power outlet is functional. If using PoE, verify the PoE injector/switch is providing power.
- Cannot Access Web Interface:
- Verify your computer's IP settings are set to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Ensure your computer is connected to the AP's LAN1 port or the correct wireless SSID.
- Double-check that you are entering the correct IP address (
192.168.10.1) in the browser. - Confirm the default username (
admin) and password (admin) are entered correctly.
- No Internet Connection:
- Check the connection between the AP's WAN port and your modem/router.
- Verify the operating mode (AP, Bridge, Repeater, Router) is correctly configured for your network setup.
- If in Router mode, ensure the WAN settings (PPPoE, Static IP, DHCP) are correctly configured with information from your ISP.
- Check if the upper network device (modem/router) has internet access.
- Weak or Unstable WiFi Signal:
- Ensure the detachable antennas are securely attached and oriented correctly.
- Check for physical obstructions (walls, large metal objects) between the AP and client devices.
- Consider adjusting the AP's location for better line-of-sight coverage.
- In AP/Repeater mode, ensure the AP is within good signal range of the main router.
- Devices Cannot Connect to WiFi:
- Verify the SSID and password are correct.
- Check if the maximum number of connected devices has been reached (though the CF-EW87 supports 120+ devices).
- Restart the AP and the client device.
9. User Tips
- For optimal outdoor coverage, consider the placement of the AP carefully. Mounting it high and with clear line-of-sight to the desired coverage area will yield the best results.
- When configuring in Repeater or Bridge mode, ensure the AP has a strong and stable connection to the main router to avoid performance bottlenecks.
- Regularly check for firmware updates on the Comfast official website to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Utilize the dual power supply options (PoE or DC) to simplify installation based on your specific outdoor wiring capabilities.
