Important Notes for Wiring:

  • Transfer Gateway: The gateway location varies by Audi model. Refer to the diagram for specific models (A1/Q3, 10-11A6L, 10-15Q7, A4L/Q5 HIGH).
  • CAN from Air Condition Panel: The CAN connection from the air condition panel also varies by model (A8L/D4, 12-15 A6L).
  • Noise Reduction: If you experience noise, try unplugging the indicated wire in the diagram.
  • WiFi Antenna: Keep the WiFi antenna away from metal objects for optimal signal.

3.5 Decoder Box Placement

Install the CarPlay interface decoder box in an appropriate space near or on the OEM head unit. Ensure it is secured and does not interfere with other components.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Switching Between Systems

After all cables are connected, you can switch between the original MMI 3G system and the CarPlay/Android Auto interface by long-pressing the "RETURN" button on your car's central control panel.

4.2 Wireless CarPlay Connection

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Select the Bluetooth device name starting with "CAR-xxxx" (e.g., "CAR-BT-533d").
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi on your iPhone and keep it on.
  4. Return to the Bluetooth settings and connect to the "CAR-xxxx" device.
  5. A pairing request will appear. Confirm the code and click "Pair".
  6. A prompt "Use CarPlay with 'CAR-xxxx'?" will appear. Select "Use CarPlay".

4.3 Apple Wireless Screen Mirroring (AirPlay)

  1. On the interface adapter's settings, select "AirPlay".
  2. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and connect to the network named "CAR-WIFI-XXX". The default password is 66668888.
  3. After successful Wi-Fi connection, return to your iPhone's main interface.
  4. Open the shortcut menu (swipe down from top-right on newer iPhones, swipe up from bottom on older iPhones).
  5. Select "Screen Mirroring" and turn it on.
  6. Choose "AirPlay" from the list to complete the wireless screen mirroring.

4.4 Wireless Android Auto Connection

  1. On your Android phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Select the Bluetooth device name starting with "CAR-xxx".
  3. A pairing request will pop up. Click "Pairing".
  4. After successful Bluetooth pairing, follow the Android Auto connection process on your car screen.
  5. Ensure the Android Auto app is installed and running on your mobile phone. The system will connect automatically.

4.5 Android Wireless Screen Mirroring (Auto Link)

  1. Scan the QR code provided in the interface's Auto Link menu using your Android phone's browser to download and install the Auto Link app.
  2. In the interface's settings page, switch the "WIFI Auto Link" option to "ON".
  3. Open the Auto Link app on your phone, search for "CAR-WIFI-XXXX" and connect.
  4. Click "START NOW" on the phone prompt box.
  5. The media sound for Auto Link will require a Bluetooth connection.
