5. Setup and Installation
5.1 Motor Installation
- Ensure your RC vehicle's chassis is compatible with the 1625 motor size (15mm diameter, 27mm length).
- Mount the motor securely using M2 screws through the designated mounting holes on the motor face.
- Ensure the motor's pinion gear (not included) is properly aligned with the vehicle's spur gear. Adjust gear mesh to prevent excessive wear or binding.
5.2 ESC Connections
- Motor to ESC: Connect the three motor wires to the three corresponding wires on the ESC. For brushless motors, the order of these wires can affect rotation direction. If the motor spins in the wrong direction, swap any two of the motor wires.
- Battery to ESC: Connect your 2-4S LiPo battery to the power input wires of the ESC (red for positive, black for negative). Ensure the connector type matches your battery.
- ESC to Receiver: Plug the ESC's signal cable (usually a three-wire servo connector) into the throttle channel (typically channel 2) of your RC receiver.

5.3 ESC Calibration (General Steps)
While specific calibration steps may vary, most ESCs require calibration with your radio transmitter's throttle stick. Follow these general steps:
- Turn on your transmitter and set the throttle trim to neutral.
- Hold the throttle stick at full throttle.
- Connect the battery to the ESC.
- Listen for a series of beeps from the motor.
- When prompted (usually by a specific beep pattern), move the throttle stick to full brake/reverse.
- Listen for another series of beeps.
- When prompted, move the throttle stick to the neutral position.
- The ESC should emit a final set of beeps, indicating successful calibration.
- Disconnect the battery and reconnect to test.
6. Operating Instructions
- After successful installation and calibration, ensure your RC vehicle is on a stable surface with wheels off the ground if possible.
- Turn on your radio transmitter.
- Connect the battery to the ESC. The ESC will power up and emit a series of tones.
- Slowly increase the throttle on your transmitter to check motor response and direction.
- If the motor spins in the wrong direction, power off, disconnect the battery, and swap any two of the motor wires (as described in Section 5.2).
- Once confirmed, you can begin operating your RC vehicle.
7. Maintenance
- Motor: Regularly check the motor for dirt, debris, or signs of wear. Keep the motor clean. Inspect the motor shaft and bearings for smooth operation.
- ESC: Keep the ESC clean and free from dust and moisture. Ensure adequate airflow around the ESC to prevent overheating. Check all wire connections for looseness or damage.
- Gearing: Periodically inspect the pinion and spur gears for wear and proper mesh. Replace worn gears to maintain efficiency and prevent damage.
- Connectors: Ensure all battery and motor connectors are clean and free from corrosion.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Motor not spinning | Loose connections, uncalibrated ESC, dead battery, damaged motor/ESC. | Check all wiring, recalibrate ESC, charge/replace battery, inspect components for damage. |
| Motor spins in wrong direction | Incorrect motor wire connection. | Swap any two of the three motor wires. |
| Motor/ESC overheating | Incorrect gearing, excessive load, poor ventilation. | Use a smaller pinion gear, reduce load, ensure proper airflow, check for binding in drivetrain. |
| Erratic motor behavior | Interference, loose signal wire, damaged ESC/receiver. | Check signal wire, ensure no interference, test with different components if possible. |
| ESC beeps continuously | Low battery voltage, throttle signal error. | Charge battery, recalibrate ESC. |
9. User Tips
- Gearing: Experiment with different pinion gear sizes to find the optimal balance between speed and torque for your specific vehicle and driving style. A smaller pinion will provide more torque and less top speed, while a larger pinion will increase top speed but reduce torque and potentially increase motor/ESC heat.
- Battery Choice: While the ESC supports 2-4S LiPo, consider starting with 2S or 3S for mini cars to manage power and heat, especially if you are new to brushless systems.
- Wire Management: Keep all wires neatly routed and secured to prevent them from interfering with moving parts or getting damaged.
