5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Mounting

The GRT6 series relays are designed for DIN rail mounting. Ensure the relay is securely clipped onto a standard 35mm DIN rail (EN/IEC 60715). The compact 1 MODULE (18mm) width allows for efficient use of space in control panels.

5.2 Terminal Connections

The relays feature screw terminals for electrical connections. Ensure all connections are tight with a tightening torque of 0.4Nm. Use solid wires with a maximum size of 1x2.5 mm2 or 2x1.5 mm2 with sleeves (AWG 12).

5.3 Wiring Diagrams

Follow the specific wiring diagrams for your GRT6-A (ON Delay) or GRT6-B (OFF Delay) model. Connect the Line (L) and Neutral (N) to the appropriate supply terminals (A1-A2) and the load to the output contacts (15, 16, 18 for 1SPDT; 25, 26, 28 for 2SPDT).

6. Operation

6.1 Function Diagrams

The GRT6 series offers various timing functions, including simple ON Delay (A) and OFF Delay (B), as well as variations with instantaneous contacts (At, Bt). The diagrams below illustrate the timing behavior for each function.

Function diagrams for GRT6-A (Delay ON) and GRT6-B (Delay OFF) modes, including instantaneous contact variations, and instructions for time setting using potentiometers.
Figure 10: Function Diagrams and Time Setting

6.2 Time Setting

Time setting is achieved using two potentiometers (knobs) on the front panel:

  1. Knob 1 (Gear Setting): Selects the time range (e.g., 's' for seconds, 'm' for minutes, 'h' for hours, 'd' for days). It also includes 'ON' for relay open (15-18/25-28 closed) and 'OFF' for relay closed (15-18/25-28 open) for continuous operation modes.
  2. Knob 2 (Fine Adjustment): Provides fine adjustment of the delay time, from 10% to 100% within the selected range.

Calculation Example:

  • To set 5 seconds: Set Knob 1 to '1-10s', and Knob 2 to 50%. Delay time = 10s * 50% = 5s.
  • To set 8 minutes: Set Knob 1 to '1-10min', and Knob 2 to 80%. Delay time = 10m * 80% = 8m.

6.3 LED Indicators

  • Green LED (Un): Indicates the supply voltage status.
  • Red LED (R): Indicates the output relay status.

7. Maintenance

The GEYA GRT6 series time relays are designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can help ensure optimal performance:

  • Cleaning: Keep the relay free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all terminal connections to ensure they remain tight and secure. Loose connections can lead to intermittent operation or overheating.
  • Environment: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage to the internal components.
  • Visual Inspection: Inspect the relay for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or unusual odors, which may indicate a problem.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GRT6 series time relay, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power Indication (Green LED Off):
    • Check the supply voltage at terminals A1-A2.
    • Ensure the voltage is within the specified range (AC/DC24~240V or AC230V).
    • Verify power supply connections are secure.
  • Relay Not Activating/Deactivating (Red LED Not Changing Status):
    • Confirm the time setting is correctly configured for the desired delay.
    • Check the load connections and ensure the load is functioning correctly.
    • Verify the output contact type (1SPDT or 2SPDT) matches your wiring.
    • For GRT6-A (ON Delay), ensure the input signal is present for the duration of the delay.
    • For GRT6-B (OFF Delay), ensure the input signal is removed to initiate the delay.
  • Inaccurate Timing:
    • Re-check the potentiometer settings for both the gear and fine adjustment knobs.
    • Ensure the operating temperature is within the specified range, as extreme temperatures can affect timing accuracy.
  • Overheating:
    • Ensure the current drawn by the load does not exceed the relay's rated current (10A/AC1).
    • Verify proper ventilation around the relay.

If the problem persists after these checks, contact customer support for further assistance.

9. User Tips

  • When setting the time, start with the coarse adjustment (Knob 1) to select the appropriate range, then use the fine adjustment (Knob 2) for precise timing.
  • Always double-check your wiring against the provided diagrams before applying power to prevent damage to the relay or connected equipment.
  • Consider the application's specific needs when choosing between 1SPDT and 2SPDT output contacts.
