4.2 Connecting to Your Engraver
The rotary chuck can be connected to your laser engraver via two primary methods:
- USB Cable Connection: For engravers that support USB connectivity for rotary attachments.
- Motor Cable Connection: For engravers that utilize a dedicated motor cable for rotary axis control.

4.3 Using Heightening Feet
The included plastic heightening feet can be used to elevate your laser engraver, providing sufficient clearance for engraving larger or irregularly shaped objects with the rotary chuck.
5. Operating Instructions
The R8 PRO-H allows for engraving on a wide variety of shapes and materials.
5.1 Engraving Cylindrical Objects
The chuck can securely hold regular cylindrical objects such as cans, round wood sticks, and tumblers for precise 360-degree engraving.

5.2 Engraving Irregular and Spherical Objects
Utilize the three sets of included fixtures (threaded cylindrical pins, L-shaped grippers, trapezoidal grippers) to adapt the chuck for special-shaped materials like mugs with handles, irregular cylinders, and pure spherical objects such as baseballs or glass balls.

5.3 Adjusting Angle and Rotation
The R8 PRO-H features a 30° elevation and 180° horizontal rotation, allowing you to adjust the engraving angle to suit different materials and achieve optimal results.

6. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your AtomStack R8 PRO-H Rotating Chuck, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the chuck body and grippers to remove dust, debris, and engraving residue. Use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn residue, a slightly damp cloth can be used, ensuring the device is completely dry before next use.
- Lubrication: Periodically check the moving parts for smooth operation. If any friction is noticed, apply a small amount of light machine oil to the rotating mechanisms.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the grippers and pins for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure they are securely attached and functioning correctly.
- Storage: Store the rotary chuck in a clean, dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your AtomStack R8 PRO-H Rotating Chuck, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Chuck not rotating:
- Ensure all cables (USB or motor cable) are securely connected to both the chuck and the laser engraver.
- Verify that the laser engraver's software is correctly configured for rotary engraving and recognizes the chuck.
- Check for any physical obstructions preventing rotation.
- Engraving is distorted or uneven:
- Ensure the object is securely clamped and not slipping during engraving.
- Verify that the object is properly centered and aligned with the chuck's rotation axis.
- Check the engraving parameters in your software (e.g., speed, power, steps per rotation).
- Ensure the chuck's rotation angle and elevation are correctly set for the object's shape.
- Chuck makes unusual noises:
- Inspect for any loose parts or foreign objects.
- Apply a small amount of lubricant to the moving parts if they appear dry or stiff.
- If the noise persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
For further assistance, consult your laser engraver's user manual or contact AtomStack customer support.
8. User Tips
Here are some general tips to enhance your experience with the AtomStack R8 PRO-H Rotating Chuck:
- Test Engravings: Always perform a small test engraving on a similar material before starting a large project to fine-tune settings and ensure desired results.
- Secure Clamping: Double-check that your object is firmly clamped to prevent movement during engraving, which can lead to errors.
- Software Settings: Familiarize yourself with the rotary engraving settings in your laser software. Correct diameter, circumference, and steps-per-rotation settings are crucial for accurate results.
- Leveling: Use the included mini level to ensure your object is perfectly horizontal or at the desired angle for consistent engraving.
- Experiment with Fixtures: Don't hesitate to experiment with the different grippers and pins to find the best way to secure various irregular shapes.
