1. Introduction

This user manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your CARABC Wireless Carplay Android Auto Module. This module is designed to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities into compatible Toyota vehicles equipped with Touch2 & Entune 2.0 systems, enhancing your in-car entertainment and navigation experience.

Important Note: This product is not compatible with cars equipped with a 360-degree camera system.

2. Function Description

The CARABC module offers a range of features to upgrade your vehicle's infotainment system:

  • Apple CarPlay / Android Auto: Seamlessly integrates your iPhone or Android device with the car's central control system. Supports voice commands, Siri/Google Assistant interaction, phone calls, messaging, navigation, and music playback. Wireless CarPlay is supported.
  • Reversing Video Input: The smart module can decode video signals and supports input from a rear-view camera, allowing for easy installation and display of reversing video.
  • Airplay: Supports wireless Airplay for iPhone devices, enabling screen mirroring.
  • USB Music: Play music directly from a USB disk.
  • Advanced Chip: Equipped with an advanced chip for stable and efficient performance.
  • Rear Camera Support: Integrates with existing or aftermarket rear cameras.
  • Bluetooth Calling: Enhanced Bluetooth functionality for calls.

4. Compatibility

This module is compatible with specific Toyota models equipped with the original Touch2 & Entune 2.0 system and a 6", 7", or 8" screen. Please verify your vehicle's system before installation.

Specific Exclusions:

  • 2014-2018 Toyota RAV4: Not compatible with 86100-42241 radio.
  • 2014-2019 Toyota 4Runner: Only fits Panasonic & Fujitsu, Pioneer is not supported.
  • 2014-2019 Toyota Corolla: Not compatible with 86140-02540 Fujitsu with 7" display.
  • 2016-2019 Toyota Prius: Not compatible with Prius w/ 11.6" screen equipped models.

5. Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your vehicle is turned off and the battery is disconnected to prevent electrical damage.

5.1 Connection Diagram

Refer to the diagram below for proper wiring connections. Each numbered point corresponds to a specific connection on your vehicle's main unit or existing plugs.

5.2 Vehicle Dialing Table (DIP Switch Settings)

Adjust the DIP switches on the module according to your vehicle's mainframe type. Incorrect settings may prevent proper operation.

Summary:

  • For Panasonic Fujitsu mainframes: All DIP switches should be set to OFF.
  • For Pioneer mainframes: DIP switch 5 should be set to ON, and all other switches (1-4, 6-8) should be OFF.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Switching to CarPlay/Android Auto System

There are three primary methods to switch to the CarPlay or Android Auto interface:

  1. From the Original Car Screen:
    • First, click on the "FM" icon.
    • Then, click on the "AUX" icon to enter the CarPlay/Android Auto interface.
  2. Using the Steering Wheel Controls:
    • Long press the voice button on your steering wheel to switch to the system.
  3. If No Voice Button is Present:
    • Press the "MODE" button on your car's controls to switch.

6.2 Control Key Operations

The module supports both touch screen and original car button controls.

Touch Screen Control

Navigate the CarPlay/Android Auto interface directly using the car's touch screen, similar to operating a smartphone.

Original Car Button Control

Utilize your vehicle's existing steering wheel buttons for convenient control:

  • Answer the phone
  • Hang up the phone
  • Short press to wake up Siri; Long press for 2 seconds to switch CarPlay system.

6.3 Wireless CarPlay Connection

  1. On the module's interface, select "Bluetooth".
  2. On your iPhone, go to Bluetooth settings and look for a device named "CAR-BT-xxxx" (where xxxx is a unique identifier).
  3. Ensure Wi-Fi is turned on and remains active on your iPhone.
  4. Connect to "CAR-BT-xxxx" from your iPhone's Bluetooth settings. A pairing request will appear; confirm it.
  5. After successful Bluetooth pairing, your iPhone will prompt you to enable CarPlay. Confirm this option.

6.4 Wireless Android Auto Connection

  1. On the module's interface, select "Bluetooth".
  2. On your Android phone, go to Bluetooth settings and look for a device named "CAR-BT-xxxx".
  3. Click on the Bluetooth name "CAR-BT-xxxx" and initiate pairing.
  4. After successful Bluetooth pairing, open the Android Auto app on your mobile phone. The system should connect automatically.

6.5 Apple Wireless Screen Mirroring (Airplay)

  1. On the module's interface, select "Airplay".
  2. On your iPhone, turn on the "Wireless LAN" (Wi-Fi) option.
  3. In your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings, search for "CAR-WIFI-XXX" and connect to it. The password is 66668888.
  4. After the CarPlay Wi-Fi connection is established, return to your iPhone's main interface. Open the Control Center (or equivalent shortcut menu) and select "Screen Mirroring".
  5. From the list of available devices, select "Airplay" to begin wireless screen mirroring.

7. Settings

Access the settings menu on the module's interface to configure various options.

7.1 Camera Selection

In the settings menu, you can select between OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) camera and Aftermarket Camera options, depending on your vehicle's setup.

Resolution Settings:

  • Default regular resolution: 670*470
  • For Senna L/R with incomplete display: 709*470
  • For RAV4 Corolla with leftward display: 6” Left offset 670*470

7.2 Audio Settings (AEC Delay)

To adjust audio settings and correct echo during calls:

  1. Navigate to: Settings -> Audio -> AEC Delay.
  2. Click the "Start Auto AEC" button.
  3. For Echo Correction: If you experience echo during calls, click this button.
  4. When correcting echo, ensure:
    • The car interior is quiet.
    • The audio volume is set to a moderate position.
    • Then, click "start" to cancel the echo.

7.3 Bluetooth Audio Connection Settings

To ensure proper audio output via your car's Bluetooth:

  1. Go to the module's Settings interface.
  2. Select "System".
  3. Find the switch corresponding to "Use Car's BT channel" and turn it ON.
  4. Confirm the change by clicking the checkmark (✔) that appears.

8. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your CARABC module, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the module and its connections clean and free from dust and debris.
  • Avoid exposing the module to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Ensure all cables are securely connected and not pinched or damaged.
  • Do not attempt to open or modify the module, as this will void the warranty.
  • If cleaning is necessary, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CARABC module, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Display/No Power:
    • Check all power connections to ensure they are secure.
    • Verify that the vehicle's battery is properly connected and has sufficient charge.
    • Ensure the DIP switch settings (Section 5.2) are correct for your vehicle's mainframe.
  • CarPlay/Android Auto Not Connecting:
    • Ensure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on your smartphone.
    • Verify that your phone is paired with the "CAR-BT-xxxx" device (Sections 6.3 & 6.4).
    • Confirm that the "Use Car's BT channel" setting is enabled (Section 7.3).
    • Restart both your smartphone and the car's infotainment system.
  • Audio Echo During Calls:
    • Perform the AEC Delay calibration as described in Section 7.2.
  • Screen Mirroring (Airplay) Issues:
    • Ensure your iPhone is connected to the "CAR-WIFI-XXX" network with the correct password (Section 6.5).
    • Verify that "Screen Mirroring" is activated from your iPhone's Control Center.
  • Module Overheating:
    • Ensure the module is installed in a location with adequate ventilation.
    • Check for any obstructions around the module that might impede airflow.
    • If the USB charging current exceeds 1A, the module's circuit protection should limit it to 1.5A. Ensure no faulty devices are connected.

10. User Tips

  • For optimal performance, ensure your smartphone's operating system (iOS or Android) is up to date.
  • When using wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, keep your phone in a stable location within the vehicle to maintain a strong connection.
  • Familiarize yourself with both touch screen and steering wheel controls for a safer and more convenient driving experience.
  • If you experience any lag, try restarting the module by turning off and on your car's ignition, or by disconnecting and reconnecting your phone.

11. Warranty and Support

Warranty Exclusions:

The free warranty service does not cover the following conditions:

  • After the free warranty period, if the appearance is scratched, dirty, or deformed.
  • The warranty card and purchase certificate are inconsistent with the product model or have altered marks.
  • The barcode of the host machine body is unclear or there is no barcode product.
  • Failure to use, maintain, repair, or refit the product according to the requirements of this product manual, resulting in damage.
  • Damage due to force majeure (such as fire, flood, traffic accident, lightning, earthquake, etc.).
