Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your WLED Digital LED Controller:

  • Keep the controller in a dry environment. Avoid exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Clean the device gently with a dry cloth; do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating, especially during prolonged use with high current loads.

Troubleshooting

  • LEDs do not light up: After any reset or OTA update, you must configure GPIO12. If LEDs remain off, check the GPIO12 configuration. If abnormal, reconfigure and reboot the controller. If normal, inspect the power supply circuit for proper connection and adequate power.
  • Incorrect Firmware: Always select the firmware that matches your controller's chip model (ESP8266 or ESP32). Using incorrect firmware can damage the device.
  • Controller Unresponsive / Factory Reset: If the controller becomes unresponsive, a factory reset can be performed by holding the reset button for more than 10 seconds. This will activate the WLED-AP hotspot, and the device will need to be re-configured.
  • Wi-Fi Connection Issues: Ensure you are connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network during initial setup, as 5GHz networks are not supported. Verify the Wi-Fi password is correct.

User Tips

  • Home Assistant Integration: This controller is compatible with Home Assistant, allowing for advanced home automation and integration with other smart devices.
  • Power Supply Sizing: Always ensure your power supply provides sufficient voltage (5-24V) and current for the total length and type of your LED strip. Inadequate power can lead to dimming or flickering.
  • LED IC Quantity: The controller supports up to 800 ICs. When planning your LED strip installation, ensure the total number of ICs does not exceed this limit to maintain optimal performance.
  • Remote Control: If using the DOM-WLE-RC005 remote, remember it must be paired with a compatible WLED controller and cannot function independently.
