5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Component Identification

Refer to Figure 3.1 for a detailed functional description of the drive and its labeled components, including power terminals, control signal terminals, and communication ports.

5.2 Motor Dimensions

Before installation, ensure the motor dimensions are compatible with your application. Refer to Figures 4.1 and 4.2 for detailed motor dimensions.

5.3 Wiring Diagram

The following diagram illustrates the abstract wiring for the Lichuan A8 series servo driver and common peripheral equipment. Always ensure proper grounding and adhere to local electrical codes.

Wiring Notes:

  • Braking Resistor: When using the internal braking resistor, short-circuit B2:B3. When using an external braking resistor, disconnect the B2:B3 short-circuit wire and connect the external braking resistor to the B1:B2 terminal.
  • Filter: The filter should be selectively installed according to the field environment.

  • Do not forcefully strike the shaft from the installation/disassembly position to the end of the motor to prevent damaging the encoder at the other end.
  • Try to prevent shaft seat vibration as much as possible to prevent damage to the bearings.
  • Ensure the driver is installed vertically for optimal heat dissipation.
  • The operating environment should be free of corrosive substances, flammable materials, oil mist, or dust.

6. Operating Modes and Control

The Lichuan A8 series servo driver supports a variety of control modes to suit different application requirements:

  • Pulse + Direction Control: Standard method for position control using pulse trains.
  • Modbus RS485 Communication: For advanced control and parameter setting via serial communication.
  • Analog Voltage Control: Input range of -10V to +10V for speed or torque control.
