2. Safety Information

  • Always use the correct function, range, and input terminals for measurements.
  • Do not apply more than the rated voltage, as marked on the meter, between terminals or between any terminal and earth ground.
  • Exercise extreme caution when working with live electrical circuits.
  • Do not use the meter if it appears damaged or if the insulation on the test leads is compromised.
  • Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed before operation.
  • Do not operate the meter in explosive gas, vapor, or dust environments.

4. Product Overview

The ZT-R02 features a clear 2.4-inch TFT color screen and intuitive button layout for ease of use. Below is a diagram detailing the main components and their functions.

4.1. Panel Components and Functions

  • Flashlight: Provides illumination for dark areas.
  • Infrared Lens: Captures thermal images.
  • Display Screen: 2.4-inch TFT color screen (240x240 resolution) for displaying measurements and thermal images.
  • Power Button (DCA/ACA >2S POWER): Long press to power on/off. Short press to switch current measurement range in multimeter mode.
  • IR/DMM Switch: Long press to switch between Thermal Imaging and Multimeter modes. Short press to adjust thermal imaging brightness in settings menu, or increase/select up.
  • HOLD / >2S REL: Short press to enter or exit data hold. Long press to enter or exit relative measurement mode.
  • SAVE: Long press to save current data screenshot. Short press to turn waveform display on or off.
  • MENU OK *: Short press to enter the settings menu. In the menu, short press to confirm values. During measurement, long press to turn flashlight on/off.
  • Input Port for Current Measurement (≤10A): For measuring currents up to 10 Amperes.
  • Input Port for Current Measurement (≤250mA): For measuring currents up to 250 milliamperes.
  • COM (Return) Port: Common return port for all measurements.
  • Input Ports for Other Measurements (VΩHz): For AC/DC Voltage, Resistance, Capacitance, Frequency, Continuity, and Diode measurements.

5. Setup

5.1. Charging the Battery

The ZT-R02 is equipped with a built-in 2000mAh lithium battery. Before initial use, ensure the device is fully charged.

  1. Locate the Type-C charging port on the side of the device.
  2. Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the device and a suitable USB power adapter (5V).
  3. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status.
  4. Charge until the battery indicator shows full.

5.2. Initial Power On

Long press the POWER button (DCA/ACA >2S POWER) for approximately 2 seconds to turn on the device.

6.1. Switching Between Thermal Imaging and Multimeter Modes

The ZT-R02 integrates both thermal imaging and multimeter functionalities. To switch between these modes:

  • Long press the IR/DMM button to toggle between the thermal imaging display and the digital multimeter display.

6.2. Thermal Imaging Mode

In thermal imaging mode, the device displays a thermal map of the environment, highlighting temperature variations.

  • Pseudo-Color Modes: The ZT-R02 offers 8 pseudo-color modes (White Hot, Black Hot, Blue, Iron Red, Color, Red Hot, Fusion, Rainbow) to visualize temperature differences. These can be selected via the settings menu.
  • Hot and Cold Tracking: The device automatically tracks and displays the center, maximum, and minimum temperature points on the screen, aiding in quick fault identification.

  • Adjustable Emissivity: Emissivity can be adjusted from 0.01 to 1.00 to accurately measure different materials. Refer to the common emissivity values table for guidance.

6.3. Multimeter Mode

In multimeter mode, the ZT-R02 functions as a high-precision 25,000-count digital multimeter, capable of measuring various electrical parameters.

  • Measurements: Measures AC/DC Voltage, AC/DC Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Frequency, Diode, and Continuity.
  • Range Selection: The device features auto-ranging, but manual range selection may be available for specific functions by short pressing the POWER button.
  • Connecting Test Leads: Insert the red test lead into the appropriate input terminal (e.g., VΩHz for voltage/resistance, 10A for high current, 250mA for low current) and the black test lead into the COM terminal.

6.4. Data Storage and Export

6.6. Underfloor Heating Pipe Leak Detection

The thermal imaging function is particularly useful for detecting leaks in underfloor heating systems.

Follow these four steps for effective leak testing:

  1. Pressurize each circuit of the underfloor heating system.
  2. Use thermal imaging to locate the leaking circuit or inject hot water into the system.
  3. Check the underfloor heating condition after fifteen minutes.
  4. Use thermal imaging along the circuit to find abnormal points or leak points.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
  • Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly, even if not in use, to maintain its lifespan. Avoid fully discharging the battery for extended periods.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
