6.3 Initial Parameter Settings

If your motor's rated RPM is not 24000rpm, you will need to adjust the VFD parameters. Before changing any parameters, it is recommended to perform a factory reset. Then, change parameter PD013 to 8. After this, you can proceed to adjust other motor-specific parameters as needed.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Basic Operation

  • RUN Button: Press to start the motor.
  • STOP/RST Button: Press to stop the motor or reset fault conditions.
  • Frequency Adjustment: Use the up/down arrow keys or the speed adjustment knob on the control panel to change the output frequency, thereby controlling motor speed.
  • PRGM/ESC Button: Enters/exits programming mode.
  • DATA/SET Button: Used to confirm parameter changes.
  • SHIFT Button: Used to shift between digits when setting parameters.

7.2 Control Modes

The VFD utilizes SPWM (Sine Wave PWM) for precise motor control. It supports various control techniques for both synchronization and non-synchronization, allowing for fast starting without changing brakes.

7.3 Multi-Function Inputs/Outputs

The VFD features 6 multi-function input terminals for controlling 8-speed steps, program operation, 4-speed ramp switching, UP/DOWN functions, counter, and external emergency stop. It also has 5 multi-outputs for indicating running status, zero speed, counter, external abnormality, program operation, and other warnings.

8. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Keep the VFD clean and free from dust and debris. Use compressed air to clear ventilation openings.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear or damage.
  • Environmental Control: Ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges to prolong the VFD's lifespan.
  • Cooling System: For water-cooled spindles, regularly check the water pump and ensure adequate water flow and cleanliness to prevent overheating.

9. Troubleshooting

The VFD includes perfect error protection and short circuit starting protection. Common issues and their potential causes/solutions are:

  • Overload Protection: If the motor draws excessive current (e.g., 150% for constant torque, 120% for fan types), the VFD will trigger overload protection. Check for mechanical binding, incorrect motor parameters, or excessive load.
  • Fuse Protection: If the internal fuse breaks, the motor will stop. This indicates a severe electrical fault; inspect the wiring and motor for short circuits.
  • Over-voltage: The VFD will protect against over-voltage (e.g., DC Voltage >400V for 220V class, >800V for 380V class). Check input power supply stability and braking resistor if used.
  • Under-voltage: Protection against under-voltage (e.g., DC Voltage <200V for 220V class, <400V for 380V class). Verify stable input power supply.
  • Output Short Circuit: Electrical circuit protection will activate if a short circuit is detected at the output terminals. Immediately disconnect power and inspect motor wiring.
  • Fin Over-heat Protection: If the VFD's internal temperature exceeds safe limits, it will shut down. Ensure adequate ventilation and clear any obstructions from cooling fins.
  • Fault Reset: After resolving a fault, press the STOP/RST button to clear the error and restart operation.

10. User Tips

  • Motor RPM Matching: Always ensure the VFD parameters are correctly set to match your motor's rated RPM. If your motor is not 24000rpm, remember to perform a factory reset and set PD013 to 8 before adjusting other parameters.
  • Cooling: For high-speed spindles, especially those with water cooling, regularly check the water pump and ensure the cooling system is functioning optimally to prevent overheating and prolong spindle life.
  • Parameter Backup: It is good practice to record your VFD's parameter settings after successful configuration for quick restoration if needed.
