3. Operating and Display
This is a static display model. Once assembled and painted, it is ready for display. Handle the model with care to prevent damage to delicate parts or paintwork.
- Choose a stable, flat surface for display.
- Avoid dropping or applying excessive force to the model.
- Keep away from areas with high traffic where it might be accidentally knocked over.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
To maintain the appearance of your model, regular dusting is recommended. Use a soft brush or a can of compressed air to gently remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the paint and plastic.
4.2 Storage
Store your model in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause paint fading and plastic degradation. Consider a display case to protect it from dust and accidental damage.
5. Troubleshooting
- Parts do not fit together: Ensure you are using the correct parts as indicated in the instructions. Trim any excess plastic or mold lines that may be preventing a snug fit. Dry-fit parts before gluing.
- Decals do not adhere or silver: Ensure the surface is glossy before applying decals. Use decal setting solutions to help decals conform to irregular surfaces and eliminate air bubbles (silvering).
- Paint peeling or uneven finish: Ensure the model surface is clean and free of oils before priming and painting. Apply paint in thin, even coats, allowing each coat to dry thoroughly.
- Small parts lost: Work in a well-lit, organized area. Keep a tray or mat to contain small parts during assembly.

7. User Tips
- Patience is Key: Model building requires patience. Take your time with each step, especially with small or delicate parts.
- Work in Stages: Break down the assembly into smaller, manageable sub-assemblies. This makes the process less daunting and helps ensure accuracy.
- Ventilation for Painting: Always ensure good ventilation when using paints and glues, especially solvent-based types.
- Thin Paint for Details: Apply multiple thin coats of paint rather than one thick coat to preserve fine details and avoid brush marks.
- Reference Materials: If you desire a highly accurate finish, research real-world photos of the M1280 LMTV and M1101 Tactical Trailer for additional detailing and weathering inspiration.
