2. Setup
2.1 Package Contents
Before starting, ensure all items are present:

2.2 Attaching the Antenna
- Carefully screw the antenna clockwise into the antenna connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
2.3 Installing the Battery
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place.
- To remove, slide the battery release latch (if present) and slide the battery downwards.
2.4 Charging the Battery
The DM-UV4R supports Type-C charging and optional desk-top charging.
- Connect the Type-C cable to the charging port on the side of the radio and to a compatible USB power source.
- Alternatively, place the radio (with battery installed) into the desk-top charger. Ensure the charging contacts align.
- The indicator light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Basic Operation

- Power ON/OFF & Volume: Rotate the Volume/ON/OFF knob clockwise to power on and increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.
- PTT Button: Press and hold to transmit, release to receive.
- Side-keys (1 & 2): These can be customized for various functions (e.g., quick access to NOAA, FM radio, etc.).
- Function Button: Used for menu navigation and feature activation.
- Keypad: For direct frequency input, channel selection, and menu navigation.

- Poor Audio Quality: Check volume levels. Ensure the microphone and speaker are not obstructed. If using an external accessory, ensure it is properly connected.
- Frequency Range Limitations: The radio operates within specified frequency ranges. Attempting to transmit or receive outside these ranges will not work.
