4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the battery from its packaging. Inspect for any visible damage. If damage is found, contact customer support immediately.
4.2 Mounting
- Mount the battery in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area.
- Ensure the battery is securely fastened to prevent movement or vibration.
- Avoid mounting in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
4.3 Wiring Connections
- Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals. The battery uses M8 terminals.
- Use appropriate gauge cables for your application to minimize voltage drop and ensure safe current flow.
- Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the positive input of your load/charger, and the negative terminal to the negative input.
- Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent arcing and overheating.
- Series/Parallel Connections: If connecting multiple batteries, refer to the safety section (2) regarding identical batteries. Always connect positive to positive and negative to negative for parallel connections. For series connections, connect the positive of one battery to the negative of the next. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
5. Operation
5.1 Charging
- Use a LiFePO4 compatible charger with a voltage range appropriate for 12.8V nominal batteries.
- The built-in BMS will manage the charging process, including over-charge protection and low-temperature charging cut-off.
- Avoid charging the battery below 0°C (32°F) to prevent damage. The BMS will typically prevent charging in such conditions.
5.2 Discharging
- The battery can be discharged within a wide temperature range of -4°F to 158°F (-20°C to 70°C).
- The BMS will protect against over-discharge, cutting off power if the voltage drops too low.
- Ensure your load does not exceed the maximum continuous discharge current of 100A.
Figure 5: The battery's excellent discharge performance across a wide temperature range.
6. Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check battery terminals for corrosion or loose connections. Clean as necessary.
- Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is charged to approximately 50% state of charge.
- Long-Term Disuse: To prevent damage from disuse, charge and discharge the battery once every 6 months.
- Cleaning: Keep the battery clean and dry. Use a damp cloth to wipe the exterior; do not use harsh chemicals.
- Avoid Immersion: Never immerse the battery in water.
7. Troubleshooting
The built-in 100A BMS provides multiple layers of protection. If the battery stops functioning, it may be due to one of the following protective measures:
- Over-Voltage Protection: If the charging voltage exceeds safe limits, the BMS will cut off charging.
- Under-Voltage (Over-Discharge) Protection: If the battery voltage drops too low during discharge, the BMS will cut off output to prevent damage.
- Over-Current Protection: If the discharge current exceeds 100A, the BMS will temporarily cut off output.
- Short Circuit Protection: In case of a short circuit, the BMS will immediately cut off power.
- High/Low Temperature Protection: The BMS will prevent charging or discharging if the battery temperature falls outside the safe operating range.
In most cases, the BMS will automatically reset once the fault condition is removed. If the issue persists, ensure all connections are secure and the charging source is appropriate. If the problem continues, contact customer support.
Figure 6: The intelligent 100A BMS provides comprehensive protection for the battery.
Note: Under various temperature and humidity measurement methods and instruments, voltage and current readings may deviate by 1%~5%. This is normal and does not indicate a fault unless performance is significantly impacted.
8. User Tips
- For optimal performance and longevity, avoid consistently discharging the battery to 0% state of charge.
- When designing your power system, ensure that your inverter, charger, and other components are compatible with LiFePO4 battery characteristics and the 100A BMS limits.
- Consider adding a battery monitor to track the state of charge, voltage, and current for better management of your power system.
- Always use appropriate fuses or circuit breakers in your system to protect the battery and connected equipment.
