3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Upon receiving your GVDA GD128PLUS Multimeter, carefully unpack all components and inspect for any signs of damage. The package should contain:
- 1x GVDA GD128PLUS Multimeter
- 1x Pair of Test Leads (Red and Black)
- 1x Charging Cable
- 1x Thermocouple Probe
- 1x Cloth Bag
- 1x User Manual (this document)
3.2 Charging the Battery
The GD128PLUS is equipped with a built-in 3.7V rechargeable Lithium battery. Before first use, or when the low battery indicator appears, charge the device using the provided charging cable. Connect the charging cable to the multimeter and a suitable USB power source (e.g., a power bank or USB wall adapter).
3.3 Using the Back Bracket
The multimeter features a convenient back bracket design, allowing it to stand upright on a flat surface for hands-free operation. Simply pull out the bracket from the back of the device to deploy it.

4. Operating Instructions
Safety First: Always ensure the multimeter is in the correct function and range before connecting to a circuit. Observe all safety warnings and precautions.
4.1 Power On/Off
Press and hold the power button (usually the 'FUNC' button or a dedicated power button) to turn the multimeter ON or OFF. The VA color display will illuminate upon power-on.
4.2 Smart Measurement Mode
In Smart mode, the multimeter automatically identifies and measures AC and DC voltage, resistance, and continuity. This simplifies operation for common tasks.
4.3 NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Measurement
The NCV function allows you to detect AC voltage without direct contact with wires. Select the NCV mode and bring the top of the multimeter close to the wire or outlet. The device will emit sound and light alarms if AC voltage is detected.
4.4 Live Wire Detecting
Use the Live Wire detection feature to identify live conductors. Select the Live mode and carefully touch the red test lead to the suspected live wire. The multimeter will indicate if the wire is live with visual and audible alerts.
4.5 Other Measurements (Manual Mode)
For specific measurements not covered by Smart mode, use the 'FUNC' button to cycle through different measurement types (e.g., AC/DC Current, Capacitance, Frequency, Temperature, Diode, Continuity). The input jack LED indication will guide you on where to insert the test leads for the selected function.
- Voltage (AC/DC): Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select AC V or DC V mode.
- Current (AC/DC): Insert red lead into A or mA jack (depending on expected current), black lead into COM jack. Select AC A or DC A mode.
- Resistance: Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select Ω mode.
- Capacitance: Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select F mode.
- Frequency/Duty Cycle: Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select Hz/% mode.
- Temperature: Connect the thermocouple probe to the multimeter's designated temperature input jacks. Select °C/°F mode.
- Diode Test: Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select Diode mode.
- Continuity Test: Insert red lead into VΩmA jack, black lead into COM jack. Select Continuity mode.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the multimeter's casing. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the multimeter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, ensure the battery is partially charged.
- Battery Care: Recharge the battery regularly, even if not in frequent use, to maintain its lifespan. Avoid fully discharging the battery for prolonged periods.
- Test Leads: Inspect test leads for any damage (cracks, frayed insulation) before each use. Replace damaged leads immediately.
- Calibration: For professional applications requiring high accuracy, periodic calibration by a qualified service center is recommended.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Multimeter does not power on. | Battery is discharged. | Charge the multimeter using the provided USB cable. |
| "OL" displayed on screen. | Measurement exceeds the selected range or maximum capacity. | Switch to a higher range (if in manual mode) or ensure the measured value is within the device's limits. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Incorrect function selected, poor test lead connection, or environmental interference. | Verify the correct function is selected. Ensure test leads are firmly connected. Avoid strong electromagnetic fields. |
| No continuity beep. | Circuit is open or resistance is too high. | Check the circuit for breaks. Ensure the resistance is below the continuity threshold. |
| Fuse Burning Prompt. | Internal fuse has blown due to overcurrent. | Discontinue use immediately. Contact customer support for fuse replacement or service. |
