- Ensure the clamp is securely fastened.
- Slide the Pocket Amp with the attached clamp onto your guitar or bass headstock.
3.2 Initial Charging
Before first use, ensure the Pocket Amp is fully charged. Connect the unit to a 5V USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter) using the supplied USB Type-C cable. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.
3.3 Connecting Your Instrument and Audio Output
- Connect your guitar or bass to the IN jack (1/4" mono).
- Connect headphones to the Headphone Output (1/8" stereo TRS) for silent practice, or connect an amplifier or mixing console to the OUT jack (1/4" mono).
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Use the Power Switch (9) to turn the Pocket Amp on or off.
4.2 Basic Navigation and Preset Selection
- Use the Left/Right Arrow Buttons (7, 8) to scroll through presets.
- The VOL- (5) and VOL+ (6) buttons adjust the preset volume.
- Press the HOME Button (4) briefly to return to the main interface.
4.3 BANK Mode
The Pocket Amp organizes presets into banks. When the yellow light on the display indicates the current tone, you can switch between tones within a bank (e.g., P01-P04 or P05-P08) using the VOL- and VOL+ buttons. To switch between banks, long-press the VOL- or VOL+ button. The preset number at the top will change, and the corresponding preset number area at the bottom will flash.
4.4 Effect Modules
The unit features 6 movable effect modules: FX, AMP, MOD, DELAY, REVERB, and CAB. These can be used simultaneously and their order can be customized to create unique tones.
4.5 Tuner Function
The built-in tuner can be accessed via the interface. It provides a real-time signal display bar and allows adjustment of the reference pitch (from 430Hz to 450Hz) and BYPASS volume.
4.6 Tone Editing Software (App/PC)
For more intuitive operation and detailed tone adjustment, the Pocket Amp can be connected wirelessly to a mobile app or via USB to PC control software (M-EFCS).
- Mobile App: Connect via Bluetooth for tone adjustment and management.
- PC Software (M-EFCS): Allows for adjusting parameters, moving effect modules, restoring factory presets, saving/loading/importing/exporting presets, and supports loading Amx Data files and third-party IRs. It also features an independent switch for LOOPBACK internal recording.
5. Advanced Features
5.1 OTG Direct Recording Function
The Pocket Amp supports OTG direct recording. Using the USB Type-C cable and a separately purchased OTG adapter, you can connect the unit to a mobile app for real-time synchronized audio/video direct recording. This enables internal recording and live streaming capabilities.
5.2 MIDI Pedal Expansion Footswitches
The Pocket Amp supports wired and wireless connection to MIDI pedal expansion footswitches (MIDI pedal sold separately). This allows for hands-free control over various functions:
- Program Switch Mode A: 4 presets form one Bank. Bank- and Bank+ footswitches switch between banks, and the four footswitches switch between the four presets within the bank.
- Program Switch Mode B: 5 modules can be turned on/off with one tap via footswitches.
- Manufacturer Device Control Mode: The first footswitch replaces the HOME key, the second replaces the VOL- key, the third replaces the VOL+ key, the fourth footswitch replaces the counter-clockwise rotation of the PARA knob, and the fifth footswitch replaces the clockwise rotation of the PARA knob.
5.3 ANN Digital Replication Technology (Tone Cloning/Capture)
The Pocket Amp utilizes Audio Neural Network Modeling Technology (ANN) to simulate the tone texture of amplifiers and stompboxes, delivering a more authentic tone experience. This technology allows for tone cloning or capture:
- Connect a classic stompbox (as an example) to an audio interface. Route the dry signal to the left channel and the signal with the effect to the right channel via your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software.
- Use the official ANN software to perform modeling, learning, and training on the captured audio. The resulting tone data can be saved in various formats. The audio can also be uploaded to the official community for sharing.
- The Amx Data file can be loaded and imported into the POCKET AMP product for use.
6. Maintenance
- Keep the device clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device, as this will void the warranty and may cause damage.
- Store the Pocket Amp in a safe place when not in use to prevent physical damage.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the unit is charged. Connect the USB Type-C cable to a power source.
- No Sound: Check all audio connections (instrument to IN, headphones/amp to OUT). Verify volume levels on the Pocket Amp and your output device.
- Bluetooth Connection Issues: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device and the Pocket Amp. Try restarting both devices.
- Software Connection Issues: Ensure the USB cable is properly connected to your computer and the Pocket Amp. Check for driver installations if necessary.
