4. Setup Guide

4.1 Installation

  1. Choose Mounting Location: Select a location on your front windshield that does not obstruct your view. The compact design ensures minimal obstruction.
  2. Clean Windshield: Ensure the windshield area is clean and dry before applying the electrostatic film.
  3. Apply Electrostatic Film: Apply one electrostatic film to the chosen area on the windshield. This helps in easy removal and prevents residue.
  4. Mount Main Unit: Attach the main unit to the electrostatic film using one of the 3M tapes. Ensure it is securely fixed and the lens has a clear view of the road ahead.
  5. Install Rear Camera: Mount the rear camera on your rear windshield using the second 3M tape. Connect the rear camera to the main unit using the provided rear camera cable. The rear lens is 360° adjustable for optimal positioning.
  6. Power Connection: Connect the car charger to your vehicle's power outlet and to the Type-C port on the main unit.
  7. Insert SD Card: Insert the provided 64GB Micro SD card into the TF Card Slot on the main unit.

4.2 Initial Setup and App Connection

  1. Power On: Start your vehicle to power on the dash cam. The device will automatically turn on and begin recording.
  2. Download Botslab APP: Download the Botslab APP from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  3. Connect via Wi-Fi: Open the Botslab APP on your smartphone. Follow the in-app instructions to connect to the dash cam's built-in Wi-Fi (5GHz/2.4GHz). This allows for faster video data transfer.
  4. Initial Configuration: Use the app to set date, time, video resolution, and other preferences.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Recording Modes

  • Normal Recording: The dash cam automatically starts recording when your vehicle is powered on. It records in 4K resolution for the front camera and 2K for the rear camera, capturing a 170° ultra-wide view.
  • Loop Recording: The device utilizes seamless loop recording. When the 64GB Micro SD card is full, the oldest unlocked footage will be overwritten by new recordings.
  • Emergency Recording (G-Sensor): The built-in G-Sensor automatically detects sudden impacts or collisions. In such events, the current footage is automatically locked and saved to prevent overwriting, ensuring critical evidence is preserved.

5.2 Advanced Driving Features

  • ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems): Receive real-time alerts for pedestrian collisions, front vehicle movement, lane departures, and headway monitoring. This feature can be turned off via the Botslab APP if not desired.
  • Night Vision & WDR: Equipped with a Sony IMX 415 sensor and STARVIS technology, the dash cam captures clear details, including license plates, even in low-light conditions or at night. WDR technology ensures balanced exposure in varying light.
  • Driver Fatigue Reminder: The dash cam can remind you to take a break if you have been driving continuously for an extended period, promoting safer driving habits.

5.3 GPS and App Functions

  • Built-in GPS: The dash cam records your driving routes, speed, and location data. This information can be viewed and analyzed through the Botslab APP or dedicated DV Player software on a laptop (Google Maps integration available).

6. Maintenance

  • SD Card Management: Regularly format the Micro SD card (at least once a month) to ensure optimal performance and prevent data corruption. The included 64GB card is sufficient for continuous loop recording.
  • Firmware Updates (OTA): The dash cam supports regular Over-The-Air (OTA) upgrades via the Botslab APP. Ensure your device is updated to access the latest features and improvements.
  • 24H Parking Monitoring: For continuous monitoring when your vehicle is parked, a dedicated hardware kit (ASIN: B0DT1633D2) is required. This feature helps protect your vehicle around the clock.
  • Temperature Resistance: The durable supercapacitor allows the dash cam to operate normally in a wide temperature range of -20℃ to 70℃, making it suitable for various climates.

  • ADAS Alerts Not Working: Check the settings in the Botslab APP to ensure ADAS features are enabled. Ensure the camera lens is clean and unobstructed.
  • GPS Not Recording Location: Ensure the dash cam has a clear view of the sky for GPS signal acquisition. Check GPS settings in the app.
