Setup & Installation

1. Physical Installation

Follow these steps to install the curtain motor and track:

  1. Check and Fix Brackets: Check the position of the brackets and fix them at appropriate places on the track.
  2. Assemble Motor Track: Assemble the curtain motor track at the appropriate place, then fix it with screws.
  3. Assemble Motor: Attach the motor to the track.
  4. Check Assembly: Verify that the assembly is correct and secure.
  5. Finish Assembling: Complete the track and motor assembly.

2. Wiring Instructions

The Dooya DT52S is a 4-wire motor. Proper wiring is crucial for safe and correct operation. This motor is designed to work with strong current switches.

Wire Identification:

  • Black: Live line 1
  • Blue: Neutral line
  • Yellow/Green: Ground line
  • Brown: Live line 2

Connection to a Curtain Switch (Example):

Important: This wiring diagram is an example. Due to differences in motor wire color conventions, you need to identify the motor wire function according to your specific motor manual, then connect to the switch. Ensure the power box is 100-240VAC.

3. Setting and Cancelling Limit Positions

This motor features an electronic limit function, eliminating the need for manual limit setting. The electronic limit function automatically adjusts for daily differences, maintaining precise limit positions over time.

Automatic Limit Setting:

  1. Power On: Turn on the power.
  2. Open Limit: The curtain will hit the edge one time when opening.
  3. Close Limit: The curtain will hit the edge one time when closing.
  4. Setting Successful: The LED goes off, indicating successful setting.

Cancelling Limit:

  1. Power On: Ensure the motor is powered on.
  2. Motor Stops: The motor should be in a stopped state.
  3. Hold Setting Button: Press and hold the 'Set' button for approximately 2 seconds.
  4. LED Indication: The LED will light up continuously, then flash, and finally turn off.
  5. Release Button: Release the 'Set' button.
  6. Cancellation Complete: Limit cancellation is confirmed.

Important Notes on Limits:

  • The motor has a limit memorization function. After setting the limit, if there's a power outage and the curtain is not moved, the limit will remain unchanged.
  • If the curtain is pulled after a power outage, the limit memory will be erased. Power on again, and the motor will auto-set the limit once more.
  • If the limit cannot be auto-set, you can use the switch to move the motor opposite to the auto-setting direction.
  • After installing the track, you may need to remove the current limits and then reset new ones.

Operating Instructions

1. Manual Control

  • Resistance and Stop Function: If you manually pull the opening or closing curtain, the curtain will automatically stop if it encounters resistance.
  • Power On/Off - Manual Function: When the power is off, you can lightly pull the curtain to open and close it, similar to a common manual curtain.

2. Smart Home Integration (Tuya / Smart Life App)

The Dooya DT52S 75W 4-wire motor can work with Tuya WiFi curtain switches, supporting both the Tuya app and Smart Life app for smart control.

A. Install the "Smart Life" APP

  1. Download the "Smart Life" app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or scan the QR code provided in the original manual.
  2. Open the Smart Life App. Click register and type in your email address to automatically create an account, or type in your phone number to get a verification code to create an account. If you already have a Smart Life account, simply log in.

B. Add a Device

On the Home page, tap "Add Device" or the plus icon (+) in the top-right corner to go to the device adding page.

Automatically Add Devices:

This method enables simultaneously searching for multiple devices, including Wi-Fi devices, Bluetooth gateways, Bluetooth mesh devices, Zigbee gateways, and Zigbee devices connected to the gateway, with one tap. If the search times out and no devices are found, follow the instructions to troubleshoot or try to manually add devices.

Manually Add Wi-Fi Devices in EZ Mode:

In EZ mode, follow the instructions to enable the indicator to blink quickly.

Two pairing modes are available in the app: Wi-Fi Easy Connect (EZ) mode (default) and Access Point (AP) mode (compatible). You can switch between modes using the pairing mode drop-down list in the top-right corner of the page. The camera icon can be tapped to view a video tutorial.

Manually Add Wi-Fi Devices in AP Mode:

If a dual-band network (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) is used, AP mode can be used to add devices. In AP mode, follow the instructions to enable the indicator to blink slowly, select Confirm, and then tap Next.

Manually Add Zigbee Devices:

A gateway must be added before Zigbee devices can be added. To add a gateway, tap Add Device on the Home page. On the page that appears, tap Gateway Control in the left-side navigation pane and select a gateway. Power on the gateway and use an Ethernet cable to connect it to a router. Ensure your mobile phone and gateway are on the same local area network (LAN) and connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Bluetooth Device Pairing:

To accelerate pairing with Bluetooth devices, the app supports automatic discovery of nearby Bluetooth devices. When the home management page is opened, the app automatically searches for Bluetooth devices pending pairing and shows discovered Bluetooth devices in a dialog box. You can choose Do not add or Go to add to determine whether to add these Bluetooth devices. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the Bluetooth devices are pending pairing during searching.

After Successful Connection:

After a successful connection, go back to the app to start pairing. The Wi-Fi hotspots of certain devices might use a custom name. Your mobile phone must be connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.

The device pairing page on the app appears again, and the pairing process continues. After the device is added, you can customize the device name and specify the room where the device is located. A device name can contain a maximum of 64 characters. If pairing fails, apply the tips in the third figure from the left to troubleshoot the issues.

3. Linking to Amazon Alexa

  1. Open the Alexa app and click on the hamburger menu found on the lower right corner of the screen.
  2. Choose "Skills & Games".
  3. Tap on the search icon found on the upper right and input "Smart Life".
  4. Enable the Smart Life skill and link your Smart Life account with Amazon Alexa.
  5. Check if your account has been linked by clicking on Settings.
  6. Congratulations! You can now control your smart device through the Alexa app. If you want to control it via voice commands, make sure that you know the exact name of your device.

4. Linking to Google Home

  1. Download the Google Home App.
  2. Launch the Google Home App.
  3. Sign up for Google Home by creating an account.
  4. Log in to your newly made account.
  5. Select the Menu button in the top left corner of your screen and then select "Devices".
  6. Select "ADD NEW DEVICE" and pick "Google Assistant" in order to add it to your Google Home.
  7. Add Smart Life to your Google Assistant by selecting "Home Control".
  8. On the bottom right corner of your screen, there should be a "+" icon. Select it in order to allow your Smart Life devices to be controlled through your Google Assistant.
  9. Select "Smart Life".
  10. Create a new account.
  11. Once your account is set-up, enter your account details.
  12. Give Google permission to access smart life by selecting the "Authorize" button. Once this is done, your smart devices should be connected to Google Home.
  13. You can set a name for your smart device and also assign it to a room.
  14. Voila! Your Google Home Mini/Google Assistant is now linked to your smart devices via Smart Life!

Maintenance

  • Durability: The motor uses a high-strength synchronous belt with anti-aging and acid-resistance functions, designed to maintain its shape after 15,000 uses.
  • General Care: Keep the motor and track clean and free from obstructions. Avoid exposing the motor to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the motor and track for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all connections are secure.

Troubleshooting

  • Motor Not Responding: Check power supply and wiring connections. Ensure the motor is properly installed on the track.
  • Limit Setting Issues: If the automatic limit setting fails, try manually cancelling the limits and then re-setting them as per the instructions in the "Setup & Installation" section.
  • App Pairing Issues: If devices are not found during automatic discovery, try manually adding them using EZ or AP mode. Ensure your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. For Bluetooth devices, ensure Bluetooth is enabled.
  • Smart Home Voice Control Issues: Verify that the Smart Life skill is correctly linked in your Alexa or Google Home app. Ensure you are using the exact device name for voice commands.
  • Gateway Replacement: If a gateway has faults, replace it with a new gateway. Synchronize all devices and scenes configured for the damaged gateway to the new one. To replace, tap "Replace a damaged gateway" on the management page, then enter the SN code or device ID of the new gateway.

User Tips

  • External Switch Control: This motor is ideal for hotel projects or any setup requiring control via a strong current switch or central control system. Its 4-core cable allows connection to various strong current switches.
  • No Built-in Receiver: Remember that the Dooya DT52S motor does not have a built-in receiver. For remote control functionality, it must be paired with a strong current switch that includes a receiver.
  • Power Outage Convenience: The manual control feature during power outages is very convenient, allowing you to operate your curtains by hand without any hassle.
