1. Product Overview
The JB YQK-70 Manual Hydraulic Crimping Pliers are designed for efficient and reliable crimping of copper and aluminum terminals. This tool utilizes hydraulic pressure to create strong, secure connections for various wiring applications. It features a robust design with high-hardness pliers and an integrated oil pump core for smooth operation.

2. Safety Information
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves, when operating the tool.
- Ensure the work area is clean and well-lit.
- Do not use the tool for purposes other than its intended use (crimping copper and aluminum terminals).
- Keep hands and fingers clear of the crimping jaws during operation.
- Inspect the tool and dies for any damage before each use. Do not use if damaged.
3. Setup and Preparation
- Unpack the Tool: Carefully remove the hydraulic crimping pliers and all accessories from the plastic carrying case.
- Select the Correct Die: Choose the appropriate crimping die size (e.g., 4/6/10/16/25/35/50/70mm²) that matches the terminal and wire gauge you intend to crimp. The dies are typically marked with their size.
- Insert Dies: Open the crimping head by rotating the oil return switch to the 'OFF' position (or fully counter-clockwise) to release pressure. Insert the selected dies into the crimping jaws. Ensure they are seated correctly and securely.
- Close the Oil Return Switch: Rotate the oil return switch to the 'ON' position (or fully clockwise) to prepare for crimping.

4. Operating Instructions
- Prepare the Wire and Terminal: Strip the insulation from the wire to the appropriate length for the terminal. Insert the bare wire into the terminal barrel.
- Position for Crimping: Place the terminal with the inserted wire into the selected dies in the crimping head. Ensure the terminal is centered and properly aligned within the dies.
- Initiate Crimping: With the oil return switch in the 'ON' position, repeatedly pump the movable handle of the pliers. You will feel resistance as the dies begin to close and apply pressure to the terminal.
- Complete the Crimp: Continue pumping until the dies fully close and the crimping action is complete. A distinct 'click' sound may indicate the pressure relief valve has activated, signaling a full crimp.
- Release Pressure: Once the crimp is complete, rotate the oil return switch to the 'OFF' position (counter-clockwise) to release the hydraulic pressure. The dies will retract, allowing you to remove the crimped terminal.
- Inspect the Crimp: Visually inspect the crimped connection to ensure it is secure and properly formed.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the tool with a clean, dry cloth to remove any dirt, dust, or debris.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to the moving parts and pivot points to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Die Care: Keep the crimping dies clean and free of damage. Store them in their designated slots in the carrying case.
- Hydraulic Fluid: The hydraulic system is sealed. If you notice any leaks or a decrease in performance, consult a qualified technician. Do not attempt to open the hydraulic system yourself.
- Storage: Store the pliers and dies in the provided plastic case in a dry, clean environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
- Incomplete Crimp:
- Ensure the correct die size is selected for the terminal and wire.
- Verify the oil return switch is fully in the 'ON' position.
- Pump the handles fully until the pressure relief valve activates (if applicable) or the dies are completely closed.
- Difficulty Pumping/No Pressure:
- Check if the oil return switch is fully closed ('ON' position).
- Inspect for any visible oil leaks. If leaks are present, discontinue use and seek professional service.
- Ensure the dies are correctly installed and not obstructing the mechanism.
- Dies Not Retracting:
- Ensure the oil return switch is fully opened ('OFF' position).
- Check for any foreign objects or debris preventing the dies from opening.

8. User Tips
- For best results, ensure the wire strands are neatly twisted before inserting them into the terminal.
- Always double-check the crimp for tightness and proper formation. A good crimp should be uniform and hold the wire securely without damaging the strands.
- When working with different materials or gauges, perform a test crimp on a scrap piece of wire and terminal to confirm the correct die selection and crimping pressure.
- Keep the tool clean and lubricated, especially the moving parts, to extend its lifespan and maintain optimal performance.
