4. Setup Guide
4.1 Connecting Peripherals
Identify the various ports on your Mini PC for connecting your monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other devices.

- Rear Ports: Security Lock, USB 2.0 x2, DisplayPort (DP), HDMI, Ethernet Interface 2.5G x2, DC IN (19V/3.42A).
4.2 Display Connection
The Mini PC supports triple display output with up to 8K resolution. Connect your monitors using the available HDMI, DisplayPort, and Type-C DP ports.
- Connect your primary monitor to the HDMI port using the provided HDMI cable.
- For additional displays, use the DisplayPort or Type-C DP ports.
- Ensure your monitors are powered on and set to the correct input source.

4.3 Network Connection
You can connect to the internet via wired Ethernet or wireless WiFi.
- Wired Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from your router/modem to one of the two 2.5G RJ45 Ethernet ports on the rear of the Mini PC.
- Wireless Connection: The Mini PC supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Ensure your WiFi router is configured and the Mini PC's operating system is set up to connect to your wireless network.

4.4 Power Connection
Connect the power adapter to the DC IN port on the rear of the Mini PC, then plug the power cable into a wall outlet.
4.5 Operating System Installation (if applicable)
If you purchased the "NO RAM NO SSD NO OS" configuration, you will need to install RAM, an SSD, and an operating system (e.g., Windows 11 Pro, Linux, Ubuntu) before first use. Refer to Section 6.1 for RAM and SSD installation instructions.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- Power On: Press the Power Button located on the front of the Mini PC. The power indicator light will illuminate.
- Power Off: From the operating system, select "Shut Down". Alternatively, press and hold the Power Button for a few seconds to force a shutdown (not recommended for regular use).
5.2 VESA Mounting
The Mini PC supports VESA mounting, allowing you to attach it to the back of a compatible monitor or to a wall mount, saving desk space.
- Attach the VESA mount bracket to the Mini PC using the provided screws.
- Secure the Mini PC (with bracket) to the VESA mounting holes on your monitor or wall mount.

6.1 RAM and SSD Upgrades
The GMKtec M5 Ultra is designed for easy upgrades. You can expand both RAM and SSD storage.
- RAM: The device features dual SO-DIMM slots, supporting DDR4 3200MT/s memory, expandable up to 64GB.
- SSD: There are two M.2 2280 SSD slots. One slot supports both SATA and PCIe, while the other is PCIe only. Each slot is expandable up to 8TB.
- To access the slots, carefully open the Mini PC casing. Consult the detailed PDF user manual for specific instructions on how to open the device and install components.

6.2 Cooling System
The Mini PC features an advanced dual-fan cooling system with copper heat pipes and dual turbo fans, along with a system fan. This design ensures quiet and efficient performance, extending device lifespan and maintaining stable SSD and memory performance. Regular cleaning of dust from the vents is recommended to ensure optimal airflow.

7. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the Mini PC and a working power outlet.
- No Display: Check all display cable connections (HDMI, DP, Type-C). Ensure your monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source. Try connecting to a different display or using a different cable.
- No Internet (Wired): Verify the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the Mini PC and your router/modem. Check your router's status.
- No Internet (Wireless): Ensure WiFi is enabled in your operating system settings. Check if the correct WiFi network is selected and the password is entered correctly.
- System Slowdown: Check for background applications consuming resources. Ensure adequate ventilation for the Mini PC. Consider upgrading RAM or SSD if performance issues persist after basic troubleshooting.
8. User Tips
- For optimal performance, especially during demanding tasks like gaming or video editing, ensure the Mini PC has sufficient ventilation and is not placed in an enclosed space.
