1. Introduction

The Irado R6000 is a high-performance Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) walkie talkie designed for reliable and secure communication. Featuring 10W output power, dual time slot capability, and advanced AES-256 encryption, it offers robust performance for various applications. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your R6000 walkie talkie.

3. Setup

3.1. Attaching the Antenna

  1. Align the antenna with the connector on the top of the radio.
  2. Turn the antenna clockwise until it is securely fastened. Do not overtighten.

3.2. Installing the Battery

  1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
  2. Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
  3. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place.

3.3. Charging the Battery

The Irado R6000 supports convenient Type-C fast charging.

  1. Connect the Type-C USB cable to the charging port on the side of the radio.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the power adaptor, and plug the adaptor into a power outlet. Alternatively, connect the Type-C cable to a compatible USB power source.
  3. The charging indicator on the radio will show the charging status. A full charge typically takes several hours.

3.4. Attaching the Belt Clip

  1. Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio (above the battery compartment).
  2. Secure the belt clip using the provided screws.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the top knob clockwise to power on the radio and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.

4.2. Display and Navigation

The R6000 features a 2.4-inch color LCD display. Use the menu and arrow keys to navigate through options and settings.

4.3. Frequency and Channel Management

The radio supports 1024 channels and 2 VFO channels. It can store up to 2000 contacts and manage 90 Talk Group (TG) Lists with 128 groups each.

4.4. Call Modes

The R6000 supports various call types:

  • Single Call: Direct communication with one specific contact.
  • Group Call: Communication with a predefined group of contacts.
  • All Call: Broadcast message to all contacts within range.

4.5. Digital and Analog Compatibility

The radio is Digital-Analog compatible, supporting DMR Tier1 & Tier 2+ Analog modes with free and adaptive switching between them.

4.6. Security and Privacy

  • Encryption: Supports ARC/AES-128/AES-256 encryption for secure communications.

4.7. Advanced Features

4.8. Customization

5. Maintenance

5.1. General Care

  • Keep the radio dry. Do not expose it to rain, moisture, or liquids.
  • Clean the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Do not drop or subject the radio to severe impact.

5.2. Battery Care

  • Charge the battery fully before initial use.
  • Do not overcharge or deep discharge the battery.
  • If the radio will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Radio does not power on: Check if the battery is properly installed and charged. Ensure the power/volume knob is turned sufficiently.
  • No audio: Adjust the volume. Check if the squelch level is set too high. Verify the channel is correctly programmed.
  • Cannot transmit or receive: Check antenna connection. Ensure you are on the correct frequency/channel and within range. Verify privacy codes (CTCSS/DCS) or encryption settings match.
  • Poor audio quality: Check antenna connection. Move to an area with better signal reception. Ensure the microphone and speaker are not obstructed.
  • Keypad unresponsive: Check if the keypad lock is activated.
