2. Setup and Installation
Before installation, ensure your motor system uses the UART protocol and has a compatible 5-pin waterproof connector. The M58 display is designed for BAFANG BBS Central Motors and other BAFANG/brand hub motors with UART Protocol Controllers.
2.1 Compatibility Check
The M58 LCD Display is compatible with BAFANG UART Protocol 5-Pin Round Connectors. It is NOT compatible with CAN Protocol 5-Pin Triangular Connectors.

Figure 2: Compatibility diagram for BAFANG UART and CAN protocol motors. The M58 display is compatible with UART 5-pin round connectors (e.g., M215, M315, M615 series) and incompatible with CAN 5-pin triangular connectors (e.g., M620, M225, M325 series).
2.2 Wiring Diagram
The display connects via a 5-pin waterproof connector. Ensure the wiring matches the diagram provided. If the wiring diagram is different, the display will not function correctly.

Figure 3: Interface specifications and wiring diagram. The 5-pin waterproof female connector has Red (Positive), Yellow (Data receive wire), Green (Data send wire), Orange (Lock control wire), and Black (Ground) wires. This matches the 1T4 cable male connector with Brown (Power positive), Yellow (Data reception), Green (Data transmission), Orange (Lock control wire), and Black (Ground wire). A full wiring schematic shows connections to the motor, instrument, brake levers, and throttle lever.
2.3 Mounting
The display is designed for handlebar mounting. The mounting dimensions are compatible with φ22.2mm, 25.4mm, and 31.8mm handlebars. The ergonomic button layout helps save handlebar space.
3. Operating Instructions

4. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your M58 LCD Display, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the display screen and body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the screen or casing.
- Water Resistance: The display has an IP65 protection rating, meaning it is protected against dust and low-pressure water jets. While it can withstand rain, avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to high-pressure washing.
- Temperature: Operate and store the display within the specified temperature ranges to prevent damage.
- Cable Inspection: Periodically check the connection cable for any signs of wear, cuts, or loose connections. Ensure the 5-pin waterproof connector is securely fastened.
5. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your M58 LCD Display.
- Display Not Turning On:
- Check if the e-bike's main power is on.
- Ensure the 5-pin waterproof connector is securely connected to the motor system.
- Verify that the wiring diagram matches your e-bike's system. Incorrect wiring will prevent the display from working.
- Incorrect Readings (Speed, Distance):
- Ensure the wheel size setting in your e-bike controller (if applicable) is correct.
- Check for any loose connections that might interfere with data transmission.
- Error Codes Displayed:
- The M58 display provides automatic error code displays for motor issues. Consult your BAFANG motor manual or contact a qualified technician for specific error code interpretations and solutions.
- Buttons Not Responding:
- Ensure the display is clean and free from debris around the buttons.
- If the issue persists, a factory reset (if available and documented by the manufacturer) or professional inspection may be required.
