7. Maintenance

  • Keep the controller clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight or high humidity.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the controller to prevent overheating.
  • Regularly check all wiring connections for tightness and integrity.

8. Troubleshooting

  • LEDs do not light up after reset: Ensure GPIO12 configuration is complete. If abnormal, reconfigure and reboot the controller. If normal, inspect the power supply circuit and LED strip connections.
  • Controller not connecting to WiFi: Double-check your WiFi password and ensure you are connecting to a 2.4GHz network. Power cycle the controller and try the setup process again.
  • Incorrect colors or effects: Verify the LED strip type is correctly configured in the WLED app settings. Check wiring for data and ground connections.
  • Controller unresponsive: Try a short press on the Opt button to power cycle. If still unresponsive, perform a long press (over 10 seconds) on the Opt button to reset to factory settings (note: this will erase all custom configurations).
  • Flickering LEDs: Ensure your power supply is adequate for the length and density of your LED strip. If the number of ICs is too large for the controller's rated current, increase the power supply capacity.

9. User Tips

  • Power Supply Matching: Always ensure your power supply is sufficient for your LED strip's total power consumption. If the number of ICs (integrated circuits) on your strip is high, consider a higher amperage power supply to prevent flickering or dimming.
  • USB-C Power Limit: When using the USB-C interface, the input voltage must be 5V and the maximum current 5A. Do not exceed these limits to avoid damaging the controller.
  • Default Data Pin: For initial setup, always use the GPIO16 port for your LED strip's data line. The GPIO2 port can be enabled and configured later through the WLED application if needed for a second data output.
  • Firmware Updates: As the WLED project is open-source, regularly check for firmware updates within the app or WLED community forums to access new features and improvements.
